Need Help ASAP

so tonight i need to tell the gf what knife i want for xmas. im looking for something around 3 - 3.5" in length. im also looking for just a plain edge. lastly i wanna try to keep it under $125.

That's not enough info. to help us necessarily give opinions. Any other info.? Style, folder vs. fixed blade, type of lock, etc
 
Fixed or folder?

If a folder, I would suggest a BM635 Mini-Skirmish. (Although I think they're closer to $150)
One of the best folders I've ever purchased. Great for EDC, too...

Another folder I really like is the BM555 Griptilian.
Axis lock is excellent and the blade doesn't scare people. (Sort of a drop-point/wharncliffe style.)

If you want a fixed-bladed knife, you can't go wrong with a Fallkniven F1.
(I have 4!)

Nice folders with great steel? Kershaw's SG2 Blur (on the auction site, about $ 90), a Lahar (VG-10, about $ 60), a S110V Shallot ($ 65 or so), or a Composite Blade Shallot (ZDP cutting edge for around $ 80). The Shallots are limited production runs, so get em while you can! Shallots and Blur are Speedsafe assisted, and the Lahar is a flipper.
 
Trust me on this one. Tell her you want a Lahar from Kershaw. Very very excellant knife using VG10 steel, flipper or thumbstud opening and just a kick ass well made knife. Slight recurved blade that is nice and wide. Cuts way bigger than it actually is. A stellar knife and about the first Kershaw I can say I would buy another of. You can find them for less than 50 bucks on ebay, then she can get you some socks and stuff like that! Ha keepem sharp
 
Have you looked at some of the Spyderco's available? (Yes, I'm biased.) A D2 Paramilitary should be around $120. Other then that, you can grab a Mule and customize it. What kinds of "cool" steel are you looking for? I know Kershaw has some composite blades that are pretty nice (some have already been mentioned).

what do you guys think about the spec bump. its a little bigger than i was looking but it looks like its a nice knife for the money.
 
That's the Damascus Shallot.

Google: Kershaw SG2 Blur, 1660CB, 1660110V, and 1750. The Spec Bump is nice, but big. If ya want big, google ZT0200.

And stick with a known dealer like knivesshipfree.com, newgraham.com. onestopknifeshop.com, 2brothersknife.com. You may pay a few more bucks but you won't get ripped off.

Here, let me help ya out a little. Look here and here. You'll find pics of most all Kershaw models there. That's the sub forum to ask questions in too.

Personally I like to buy knives to commemorate personal victories (new jobs, products delivered) and I think that your best choice will be something that's new, and in limited production right now. Something that will be really hard to get a year from now.

The knives I follow in this category, that I recommend you take a look at:

Kershaw Shallot in CPM-S110V
Kershaw Shallot in ZDP-189 (composite)
Kershaw Leek in 14C28N (KS1660TSW)
Spyderco Para Military in D2

Anyone else have recommendations along these lines?
 
One more point:

You may want to pick a knife that isn't going to terrify your girlfriend.
Just a suggestion... :D
