Need help buying a Survival Knife

you should look at the sog seal revolver or the sog team leader survivor both have great survival saws on the blade..I own the revolver and the saw makes quick work of cutting branches ...knife blade is sharp

I don't want a big blade, something between 4-6", Im kinda leaning towards the S1 and the F1 also came to mind.
I live in Israel and I Hike alot, climate is usually hot, and the locations are from anything forest to the desert.

Carry a cell phone!

MDA (local ambulance service) will get to you quicker than you can find the wood to build a shelter, let alone use your knife to cut it!.

If you want it for personal protection, I understand the question.
If not, a small 3" lockback folder in a pouch is plenty big enough for around here as a survival knife.

I know lots of small towns with no coverage let alone out in the woods.
A friend of mine stated that he is going to use his cell phone when elk hunting in Montana, I said let me know what coverage you have once in the mountains.

I was being serious and not serious.
It happens...

The survival senario here is Israel is very different from the huge tracks of land in the US.
This is a tiny country.
With the exception of the Negev and Judean Deserts there in no wilderness, you are only a couple of hours walk to a road.
And general coverage of the cellphones is quite good.
So you would need to be in the bottom of some deep wadi (little ravine) not to have coverage.
You would be in very bad shape if you could not walk or crawl out.

And in the Judean and Negev Deserts there is nothing to cut!

So the question of a chopper or slicer does not quite work!

As personal protection, there is no question but to carry a serious knife.
