Need help choosing a dog breed?

We just got one a few months back... Australian Multi-Gen Labradoodle. Kind of a goofy dog, but sweet as can be, looks cute as hell, and no shedding, even with a coat like that!

Fear the doodle!

HDW sometimes when people call me still and offer me pups im tempted to get another one. Im sort of partial toward Dobermans. Every time you guys post a pic of your pup on here and tell a short story i feel the tagging. Outdoors are so much better when you have a pup to share it with.

What a cute dog! Ought to be quite a hunter/outdoor companion as well. Both the Lab and the Standard Poodle were bred as water oriented hunting dogs.

Ironically, my previous dog was an APBT named "Doodle". He was named after a mixed terrior dog my Dad grew up with. The original Doodle saved Dad and his brothers from a rabid dog attack when they were kids. Unfortunately, the hero of the event was badly bitten and had to be put down to avoid further spread of the disease. So "Doodle" is a legendary dog name in family history.

I've always been interested in peoples choices in dogs. I have a friend with a newfie and that big fella is about the most gentle thing I've ever seen. He's imposing and gives you pause at first. Then he comes over and gives you a big slobbery kiss. Great dogs!
I think our next dog will probably be another Newfoundland again. We love the Saint Bernard we have now, but that is in part because Saints and Newfies are very similar in temperament. Of course they are very similar in the amount of drool as well :D When we had our newfie in the condo, we'd frequently have to clean slobber slings off the ceiling. We helped reduce those occurences by only watering him outside.

Another benefit of a big affectionate breed like a Newf or Saint is coming home after a long night at work at 4am when the rest of the family is asleep and being greeted by a big (wet) bear hug from our Saint. Luckily I'm a big guy or she'd bowl me over (she is rather small for a Saint Bernard at only 120 lbs)

My Aunt had a Newfie, a Saint Bernard and a Chihuahua. The big dogs followed the little one like he was a god. I loved that Newfie and someday will have one. Great dogs, fantastic if you live on the water as we do.

i have a lab a mutt and a boxer! if you want the Rhodesian ridgeback but arnt sure! i strongly recommend The boxer most friendly dog you can name!

I've got a German Shepherd right now, his name is Major (named after FDR's shepherd) and he's such a great dog. What I find interesting is that he really loves the water, not something I expected from a shepherd. I've always loved Newfoundlands and Goldens, but one of the new hybrids has really got my interest, the shepadoodle, a german shepherd/poodle hybrid. Love my shepherd, but could really do without the shedding.

How is Dingus?

I need a report. Part of my job is to check on his well-being, you know.

Hey Kis, here's a report on your Dogson. Today was cold and snowy, so the dogs had a quiet day at home. Here's Dingus sharing the sofa with Karen's dog Crumpet. They're allowed on the sofa as long as the dog blanket is in place.

Hey buster, get that camera outta my face.

I thought it would be fun to get a pic of Dingus leaping over the sofa as I described earlier. Had no problems getting him to execute the jump, but exposure and timing problems prevented me from getting a good shot. Karen took Dingus behind the sofa and tossed his rawhide bone over. You can see a blurry image of Dingus where he landed after his leap.

This has become a challenge. I plan to try again when there's more light. :D

thank you.

I'd heard he was living in dire circumstances. Guess it's true...blanketed couch !!!

Canine discrimination !!!

Great dog. Sure has turned into a handsome young adult.

Nice work.

HDW, looks like my sister's house. The dogs have it made there too, lol. I had a RR for a short while but think I got a block head and had to let him go. He was really nice looking and very well built but just not very smart and would destroy everything when left alone for any period of time. I studied them extensively at the time and he didn't fill the bill of all I had read so... Now I have a red Doberman. He is actually a very good dog but does require a lot of attention and exercise and food, lol. I live in the country and run him with the 4 wheeler all through the summer. Next time I may go back to a Lab. I had a Lab mix that I got at a pound while living in Florida and he was by far the bestest dog/friend I have ever had. Oh the storeis that could be told :D ...

I love dogs. Down in Brazil we have five of them, a Pit Bull, Pit/Lab mix, Sao Paulo Fox Terrier (Fox Paulista), and two street dogs locally called "Vira Lata's" (Can flippers). The terrier is neurotic and quite insane.

My Pit Bull is by far the best dog I have ever owned but they need lots of room and lots of attention. The last thing you want is a bored pit bull. If you aren't committed to maintaining alpha dominance over a pit bull then avoid the breed. For my purposes he's worth his weight in prime rib.

My wife always tapes the "Dog Wisperer". The other day he made a really good comment about an unruly dog, "He doesn't know you rescued him, he just knows you're weak."
