I have around 200 to spend I cant decide which knife to get to give an idea of some of the ones I have been looking at is the caly 3.5 the zero tolerance 0550 and the benchmade 3550. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks in advanced:D:confused:

if you want a zt knife go to kershawguy I just picked up a blem 0561 from him @ 175$ and you would never notice the blem unless you studied the blade for an hour great deal IMO
Also if you dont mind auto assist I'd recommend the m390 barrage from benchmade incredibly solid knife and lightning fast wont be dissapointed...the 710 is also 1 of the favorites from them

Just my thoughts

Ok no problem what I should have said is what kind of knife are you looking for? What will it be used for? Do you have a fav steel? Fav lock? Small, big, long, short?

If I had it to do over (my first knife), I'd go with a Doug Ritter Mini-Griptillian. Search on him on google and it will direct you to his vendor, if you want to check it out.

As far as looks and material goes I do prefer ti frame locks with vg-10 or better steel I have a kershaw oso sweet and not a fan of assisted I would rather a smooth opening folder.

I suggest adding some extra info on things you want in a knife.

e.g. blade length, thickness, weight preference; type of use you plan on putting it through; any handle material preference; is any lock type okay; etc. and anything else you think of just mention it

edit: I'm not too familiar with spyderco stuff but from what I've seen they have a number stuff in titanium framelocks such as the new southard.

Blade length nothing longer than 4 inches something thin and weight anything under 6oz as far as cutting. Tasks nothing more than light tasks opening boxes cutting onions things of that nature

I was very unimpressed with the Caly 3.5. Besides slight vertical blade play out of the box....it has a riveted handle, allen wrench pivot screw, and no washers....WHY?

May be the easy way out, but for "higher-end EDC" I'd recommend a Para2 Sprint Run if you can find one in your color and steel preferences. Love my blue M390.
Otherwise, something in titanium or carbon fiber and super steel. They probably won't be out 'till 3rd quarter, but Spyderco and Kershaw/ZT debuted a bunch of cool stuff at SHOT.

I really, really like my ZT 0551, but I find it too heavy and bulky for daily carry. Though it is under 6oz.

In your price range it's hard to go wrong with a nice Spyderco or Benchmade for all around EDC. I'll list a few frame locks from each company that you may enjoy.

Some great EDC Spyderco Knives are:
Spyderco Sage - any variant, I like the 2 and 3 best. - Perfect size for regular EDC, however some prefer something a little larger.
Spyderco Chokwe - Nce long blade, weird looks but very ergonomic, light in the pocket, good steel, ti frame lock and overall just a great EDC.
Spyderco Techno - Small, stout, tough, great steel, nice stonewash, feels awesome in the hand.

Benchmade EDC's:
Benchmade 760 LFTi - Awesome tanto shape, the tanto appears to blend with the rest of the blade as well, coated M4 steel for excellent edge retention, toughness, etc, and shouldn't corrode really with the coating, Ti frame lock, big knife that carries light.
Benchmade 755 MPR - Small and stout but very beefy with m390 super steel.
Benchmade 790 Subrosa - Assisted, but that can be removed. Just a nice looking folder in s30v steel.

If I were given the choices - I'd probably pick either the BM 760 LFTi or Spyderco Chokwe.

The spyderco domino looks awesome. About the size of a sage, ffg cts-xhp blade with a flipper an a glass carbon fiber handle and a titanium framelock with the steel insert. Idk if it has bearings bu wouldnt be surprised. Looks like it flips very well. I'll probably get one. As for zt, the only thing that even looked somewhat interesting was the rexford designed 0801. And I doubt I'll get one.

I really have grown to like the 0550. I love the blade shape. You should look at the 0560/1 at National Knives for $195. That is a great deal. There are also some great offerings from Spyderco which you should check out. They have some awesome knives in the price range.
