Need help choosing first Sebenza

I would go with a Carbon Fiber 25 and be done with it. I have owned the regular and micarta 25 and the c.f. 25 really blew me away. I was, and still am very impressed by it. If not that one I would HIGHLY recommend a Large 21 with Micarta inlays, a polished blade, and silver hardware. BOOM!

Nice suggestions

I have a large 21 Micarta with polished blade, and silver hardware inbound to me right now :D. I'm also very close to pulling the trigger on either the CF 25 or maybe the Micarta 25.

I have yet to try a sebenza 25, but I can definitely recommend the 21. I've only handled the 21 micarta in the small, and I can say without a doubt that the micarta inlays add significant advantage to grip over the plain jane small. I have yet to try the micarta in the large 21, but that will change this week. I'm sure for heavy use in the field, woods, or worksite that the micarta inlays on the large would be a significant advantage over the plain jane, although I don't think it would make much of a difference for your average edc urban type usage. If grip is your number one concern, I would definitely get micarta. If price is a concern, go with the large micarta 21 with single thumb lug and regular tumbled blade for about $40 dollars less than the micarta 25. The shape of the scales on the 25 alone look more grippy than the 21's scale's shape so that might be something else to consider, and also a reason not to write off the plain jane or CF 25.

I just got rid of two plain 25's. Had them for about a week. Used one pretty hard while I was on the farm this last weekend though and I'll tell you it's a GREAT working blade. The only hangup I have with 25s are, for me, they are really hard to open(ymmv). A full sized 25 is a bit heavy for me too at 5.6 oz. The grip, due to the finger cut outs and jimping is still outstanding with or without inserts. Micarta will certainly add some traction but imo the 21s inserts look much better than the 25s. I guess, long story short, have a look at some micarta 21s too if you don't like the look of the inlays on the 25z

I second this. My 25 is currently at the Spa, but I anticipate it's going to be just as hard to open when it returns. I suppose that's by design, but it honestly hurts my thumb every time. The 21 is much easier. The 25 is a more robust knife, but I can't foresee any situation where I would be using my pocket knife hard enough to need the extra blade thickness of the 25 over the 21.

Finally, here's my large micarta 21. So far I love it. It wasn't quite as buttery smooth out of the box as I was hoping so I took it apart and lubed it up. Now it's perfect. My wife thinks I'm crazy because I haven't put it down in the past 3 hours or so.

Very, very nice. I received my first Micarta CRK this week, a pre-loved Small Sebbie, and it hasn't left my person since I unboxed it. I absolutely will be adding more micarta's in the future, likely a large insingo when funds permit. And a small micarta insingo at some point too.

Personally, I have a 21 micarta and LOVE it. It's a beautiful design and adds the perfect amount of grip, but even better than the added grip....I really like the extra beef it gives the knife. I just got the Zaan yesterday and it has the same pivot as the 25. I think I'm leaning towards the pivot in the 21, as I really appreciate when the 21 it's disassembled for cleaning and then out back together....it always goes back together perfect. With no adjustments needed. The simplicity of the 21 IMO is the cats ass

Very nice choice! I just received my large 21 micarta in the mail yesterday and it is a beauty.
