Hey guys. Okay, sent my sebenza 25 to CR over 3 months ago.....Yes, 3 months! It was only getting new blue thumb studs and a spa treatment.

I got an email like a week or two later saying my knife has been received, and I will get a payment notice shortly.

But, that was 3 months ago now. I have tried emailing them a couple times now, and no replies. I have been so busy working lately, I have almost forgotten all about it.

What should I do? I know they said 4-8 weeks, but over three months now is just disgusting. I only heard the best things about CR, and this is my first knife from them. I must have the worst luck. I don't know.

I do know that I am worried, and pretty upset that they won't get back to me.

Anyone have any advice? I have even tried calling a few times, but they are closed Friday/sat/sun, left messages. Still no call back. I just don't know what to do. The knife was brand spanking new, but I wore off the blue on the studs pretty quick so just wanted new blue ones put on. This is crazy.

Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Dave

edit: I just called and left a 3rd message on their machine. I hope I get my poor knife back soon. This is supposed to be my edc knife, and only had it for a few weeks, sent her in, and never got her back. This stinks.

I'm sorry to say it, but in my opinion you wasted your time and money putting new blue studs in. They're only going to wear out again. It seems like as soon as you touch them they wear out. As far as getting in contact with them, I've found it's faster to call them rather than email. Try calling on a lunch break, or have somebody close with you call and inquire. It sucks that you've been without it for three months, I do that think is a bit long, since you aren't having custom work done to it really. Maybe since they've had it so long you can ask them to swap it to silver hardware so you don't keep rubbing the blue off? Good luck!

I would definitely call and talk to a person Not a machine or email.

I had a 25, that I sold. I took the blue anodizing off of the studs. IMO it's looks better and you don't have to worry about the anodizing wearing off.

I Would Not pay CRK to put on silver lugs, a waste of $ IMO. You can remove the anodizing yourself.

I used a product called Never Dull, a metal polish. I doesn't mark or scratch the blade at all. I've used it for at least 30 years. There's also Flitz...I haven't

used it but it's a good product to use for removing scratches and other knife related uses.

I find it odd that you haven't received any email reply. I emailed them this last week to get a lanyard, and they responded to my first contact in a day and the rest of the responses within a few hours. I was very impressed with the email customer service.

Check the deleted mailbox in your email. Sometimes mail filters flag manufacture's mail as spam. Also, try calling them during business hours and talk to a person. They are very good at helping their customers.

Okay guys. Thanks. I will call them Monday whenever I can get the time. Or perhaps I will have my fiancé call for me. Yea, it really is a long time for just a spa treatment and new washers. Yes, I forgot to add before that I also asked for new washers, since I bent one cleaning it. And, been so long already I forgot that it was the main reason for sending her in. I asked for new thumb studs just since I was sending it anyways. And, I was thinking of removing the blue, but was afraid Flitz or something might rub off the stone wash finish a bit, which would really piss me off even worse. Its funny, when I first got the 25 it took a bit for my hands to get used to opening it. At first it was hard, but I got used to the motion. It had nothing to do with the stiffness of the pivot or anything like that. But, during the first week or two I rubbed off a good deal of the blue ano, and after I got used to opening it, it is gonna sound funny, but the rubbing/wearing of the blue just kind of stopped. So, I figure get new blue ones, and this time may not rub off so fast since I open it up so easily anyways and never use too much force.
Actually, I kind of got used to my hands just falling around the knife, and instead of flicking it open with my thumb, its actually my thumb on one stud, and my middle finger on the other side stud, which just opens it like pure butter. Not sure how I started doing it that way, but it works for me and feels great that way to open it smoothly and quietly. Just a dream to open and close it with that ceramic ball detent thing and all.

Anyways, like I said I'll call Monday. I appreciate the help, I am just worried and hope they didn't misplace my knife or something silly.

And, something else too. When going through my emails, I did find a reply to one of my last emails, from a person named Angela, saying not to worry(this was after 2 months), and should be ready soon. But, that was like a month ago now anyway, so I have no choice but to call Monday. Thanks again. I just want my baby back.

I had two knives at the "Spa" in May/June and received them back looking like new, in 42 days.
Four separate phone calls were answered quickly during their business hours. My questions and
requests were promptly addressed. Customer services doesn't get much better than this.

I wouldn't worry, but I would check on it. I am a bit surprised you did not get a response to you Email. I have 2 in there myself. I re-read the Email and it states turn around is usually 4-8 wks. Maybe they are just running behind for some reason.
Hope it gets worked out for you.

Everybody, including me has a knife in to be worked on… They probably do as much refirb as manufacturing! Mines pushing 6 weeks , sure am glad I have spares! If you only have one, and you sent it in, this is a good time to get a back up!

My regular contact is during their 4 days/ open by phone, Heather is as pleasant as she has been for quite a few years. My e-mails have been ret'd in less then 48 hrs, have never found fault in CRK' CService. Only one other company (different field) I have ever dealt with, has ever approached the quality (product & c/s) that CRK seems to. So I find myself gravitating towards quality, and my safe always has at least a half-dozen examples from each.
(Chris Reeve Knives & Match Grade Machine).

Your Mileage may vary, but quality shines thru.

Anyone have any advice?
I have even tried calling a few times, but they are closed Friday/sat/sun

Call them on a day they aren't closed, and they will be happy to help you.
They are great to talk to, and its always best to call them on a working day before starting a thread.
No one here can tell you anything about your knife.
Good luck, and hope you have it soon.

3 months is very excessive. I find it hard to believe they would not email you back. I have emailed CRK probably 100 times over the years and always got a quick response back, with the most being about 2 weeks as Heather waiting to confirm something with Anne and it was during a blade show. Try checking your spam or junk mail folders. Can always trying calling them as well. They work Mon-Fri 10 hour days. Are off Fri-Sat-Sun.

I sent my 25 out for engraving was told 12 to 16 weeks... Emailed them 2 days ago and received an email back within a day... so i don't know what's going on with you, but i would call them.

Okay guys, so like I said above I didn't realize it but when checking my email folders, I did find a reply from Angela saying it should be any day now. But, that was over a month ago. From what all you say, I will just chalk this one up to maybe some bad luck, and perhaps they got behind a bit on orders. Either way, I don't want to feel like the service is bad at all, as i love the knife so much, and am sure it won't be my last CR knife. But, it does kind of upset me that my first time sending my first CR knife in, this has happened. Again, I will call Monday as early as I can, and am hoping that the knife will be on its way back to me shortly.

I do appreciate the help guys, and glad to know this is a rare occasion then. Just can't help feeling like I have bad luck with the crap I care about....thanks again.

I've had spa service take that long and longer both times I sent them knives, seems to be the norm to me. Although I was upset at the extra length of time they were nice enough to wave all charges because of it, they also gave me a CRK T shirt with the last batch.

It'll be back soon. The good news is that you get to fall in love with it all over again.

Well, update time...Spoke to Angela, said the knife came in Thursday but they were closed, so Monday went out to me in the mail. Can't freaking wait to get this knife back in my hands!! Very happy now. Thanks for all the advice guys.

My Sebenza 25 took quite a long time too. I believe it was around 2-2.5 months or so. It came back a new knife so it was well worth it. Please post pics when it returns home!!

Let me know how it turns out, I was thinking of sending my Star-Benza in for blue thumb studs but now I'm nervous. If its going to be several months I think I will just skip it. The comments about the blue wearing off easy also makes me think twice. Why does it come off so easily? I have a Benchmade 940-1 with blue back spaces that are very dark blue, I cant imagine the blue coming off of it. Does CRK use an inferior process?

I think it would look so cool to get all the hardware (thumb studs, back spacer, stop pin and screws) all anodized on my star-benza (similar to the look of the new ZT 0392) but I guess that's not possible.

A blue back spacer is not touched. A blue thumb stud is constantly being rubbed by your thumb and clothing
