Hello, new member here. I am trying to decide what will be my next every day carry knife, and I have narrowed it down to the Spyderco Delica 4 or the Spyderco Para 3. Of course any new pocket knife ideas would be welcome and much appreciated.

Those of you who have had experience with the Delica 4 and the Para 3, I would really love to get your opinion.

Thank you,

Heffeb

Look at a Delica 4 with a Wharncliffe blade in K390 which is available now. I don't have any experience with the Parra 3, but I do have some of the Para 2.

If one handed closing is important, Para 3 over the Delica.
If you want something that disappears in your pocket, Delica over the Para 3.
If you‘re thinking about custom scales, Para 3 over the Delica.
If you want serrated or non FFG, Delica over the Para 3.
If you prefer G10 to FRN, Para 3 over the Deli…

… sorry, not much help.

Hard choice... I can't do it, get both.
^^This.

Really though, I own both, and carry the Delica more.

Of those 2, I'd pick the delica over the Para 3. I don't like how the Para 3 fits my hand.

But I think the Native 5 is better than both of them. It's a very comfortable knife in a variety of grips. And it carries small and light but cuts big.

I own a few of each, para 3 lw spy27 with Lynch NW clip gets all of the pocket time, the others are sitting in a drawer sulking, if not this one it would be para 3 camo s45v. Delica is a great choice, not overly fond of vg10 so I have a k390 version, great but not a Para 3

The Delica is a much better slicer and smaller in the pocket. The Para 3 is more fun to open and close. Overall length they are pretty much the exact same. The Delica doesn't have the finger choil but more usable handle length.

Delica = cutting, slicing hence its thinner and lighter. Its very easy to one-half flick and close.

Para 3 = pointier broader tankier thicker. In a "tactical" situation or where I need more heft I'd definitely pick the para 3.

You can also compromise and get a sage or chaparral.

And I have experience a bit of lock rock with the lock back of the Delica where as no movement issues with the Compression lock

It boils down to your preferences. For me, I would prefer the G10 over the FRN scales. The Para gets my vote and I do own a Para 2 as it fits with my hands better.

Endela with K390, check it out.
If you’ve never owned a Delica, that’s the one to get. Everyone should own one, you won’t be disappointed.

I have both. The Delica is the only one I bought more of and still carry. Para 3 just never did it for me. A bit bulky for the amount of blade you get. Delica also feels better in hand if I'm not using the choil on the Para 3.

Delica for me. Just fits and feels better, both in the hand and the pocket. I like the para 3, just prefer the delica. Either is a great choice

Can we get list of what you own already? What are your main carry knives? What role would this next purchase play? Main carry? Just another knife?

I own both....and I think the Delica is more versatile. I don't have much need for a short, thick blade that ends in a needle point. But if you like or want to try the compression lock by all means get the Para 3.

I will safely say, if you get the Delica first, you won't have any regrets.

Both are great. Both can be opened and closed easily one handed, although the Para 3 will be more fidget friendly/fun.

The Delica is a bit better slicer, Para 3 is a bit more robust, although the tip is more fragile.

You can't go wrong either way.
