Alright, heres my situation. I'm looking for a tough as nails folder for EDC and outdoors use. I've narrowed it down to the Spyderco Chinook, Almar SERE, and the BM 921. However, I can't come to a decision. So, I'm asking you guys to vote. The knife that has the most votes will be my next purchase. I feel everyone in this forum had a great deal of knowledge, so I'm confident. I appreciate the help greatly.

I think if you were looking for one that is tough as nails, I would go with the Al Mar or the Chinook. The 921 is great, but seems more like a gentleman folder than a tough as nails one. Personally, I'd pick the SERE

Ditto. The 921 is a nice EDC knife, but I sure wouldn't call it "tough as nails."

Well, the Chinook is tough as nails but suffers from a little degredation in cutting quality due to it's thickness and blade geometry. I have had several and usually would not carry them often because of this.

So based on your requirement of a tough as nails knife for - "EDC and outdoor use" I would definitely go with a SERE. Overbuilt for sure but it has great blade geometry to make it a very good slicer & VG-10 is no slouch in the steel department.

Are you sure you don't want to consider a BM 806D2?

If you had that on the list it would be a tough choice over the SERE but would win because of the Axis lock.
