Hi guys and gals,
Thought I would turn to you pro's. I have a Fallkniven F1 solid VG 10 that has had its' edge profile altered either by accident or on purpose. It is no longer convex and someone has attempted to put a standard type edge on it. I am a novice with some diamond bench stones, ceramic stick and a strop. I do not have the tools to regrind the edge. What are my options here? I didn't know where else to post this so I hope that I am not intruding. Thank you in advance for your understanding. Darrel

Ask a mod to move this to Maintenance and Tinkering. That is where all the sharpening pros hang out.

Send it back to Fallkniven, they'll make it hair popping sharp for a nominal fee. You can do it with a mouse pad and various grits of sandpaper, but Fallkniven will make it as near perfect as it can be, and then you just need to stop/maintain the edge, instead of setting it.

The Fallkniven forum has a long discussion about forming a convex edge. They describe many ways of doing it I found the abrasive paper on a computer mousepad very quick and easy . Use wet /dry paper with water .A shallow angle and fairly light pressure is all you need . Start with coarse paper and progress as fine as you like.
