I find it very easy to sleep on my side in my Hennesy Hammocks (Expedition and Safari) since you can lie in them diagonally. I recently did an overnighter using my ENO reactor but didn't try sleeping on my side, temp was in the low twenties and I went to sleep on my back snuggled up in my Big Agnes Blackburn bag and didn't even move till I woke up the next morning. I sleep better in a hammock than in my bed at home.
Since you lay diagonally in the hammock, you are actually laying flat; not curved like a banana as most people assume. You can sleep on your side or even your stomach in a good hammock.
