I have a Fallkniven U2 w/a 2" blade, a Spyderco Wayne Goddard w/a 3 5/8" blade, & a mini-Pika w/a 2.9" blade. A Pika with a 3.5" blade. I would like an in between size, about 3". I would like to get away from the hollow grind - flat or convex is OK. I would like to get into a higher grade stainless, VG-10 or better preferred. I would prefer to keep the price around $50 but open to somewhat more if necessary. I would use it for backpacking, hiking, and camping mainly. Keeping it light and compact is preferred.
I like Spyderco, Benchmade, & Fallkniven but am not stuck on those brands. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!

Whoops - I neglected the URL. Thanks, the Delica looks good. Is a flat saber grind a compromise between the two grinds? It says the tip is stronger on the 4 model. Is there any concern with tips breaking?

ISTR possibly reading that this was of some concern with the earlier Delica's, but I could be wrong. In any event, I suspect it's no longer an issue. Read this Spyderco Delica : fourth generation. Specifically as regards your tip strength question, check out where he digs a hole in ice with a Delica 4 :).

That review was one of the reasons I went with the Delica 4, myself. Pretty impressive performance for a 3" pocket folder, IMHO.

If you can find one, the spyderco calypso jr is flat ground, @ 3" blade, and vg-10 or zdp-189

the zdp-189 is going to be @ 200 bucks, but the discontinued FRN calypso jr w/ a vg-10 blade from spyderco sounds like what you are looking for.
