Hey Guys,I know some one will know where I can find some 416 stainless in thickness's from say 90 thousandths all the way down to 25 thousandths..wanting it to do sheath work and liners with and things that I usually use N/S for..

Thanks,
Bruce

Why do you want 416 ?? This is a free machining grade therefore not usually found in sheet form. You may even find the standard grade difficult to find in sheet. The 300 series however is easy to find in sheet. You will find 304 sheet common and perhaps you could find hardened [cold rolled ] if you need something stronger .

Hi Bruce, check out online metals http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=793&step=2

I'm not sure if you plan on working it cold or hot. If cold, according to data sheets I looked at 410 would be a better choice than 416 for this purpose. Online Metals has 410 from .020 to .250 in increments of ~ 1/32" with a few choices in between several of the nominal sizes

304 stainless is a pain to work and have engraved...410 is also a pain...

But I was asking for Alex Daniels,he is wanting the 416 and I was wanting some also if we found some.

It works easier than the others,

Bruce

Hey Bruce, what are you going to use it for, metal sheaths? Be interesting to see how stainless sheat would form.

David,Thanks for the help,it is very appriceated...

Will,Alex wants it to use for sheaths and everything else he uses NS for...We know Ron Newton uses stainless for all his sheath work, but I dont know what he is using Guess I should give hm a call.

Thanks to everybody for the help.
Bruce

It would be a little harder to work and polish than NS, but it'd sure make for a strong sheath! And it'd be harder to scratch and scuff.
