Here is the background: I am not a knifemaker, some of the skills and techniques required to get from a piece of barstock to a finished knife are a bit beyond me. I have been interested in knives almost my whole life, have built numerous knives from blade blanks and done some grinding both by hand and with equipment. However, I also have a "regular" job and family which takes up a lot of time and energy. Due to some changes the amount of space I have to work in has gotten a lot smaller, and also the amount of time and energy I can devote to my hobby has decreased. Some of the blades need stock removal and HT, others just need rehandles.

Over time I have accumulated more handle materials, blades and other supplies than I can use myself. I would like to hear from knifemakers or other hobbyists like myself who would be available to help me finish some of these "projects." Hopefully swap some combination of supplies/raw materials + cash, or even perhaps trade work for knives ( I have too many of those as well). I expect this to be an ongoing process, I will try to take it one step at a time. Please PT me if you are interested, thanks!

You say “Over time I have accumulated more handle materials, blades and other supplies than I can use myself” Maybe you would be interested in simply selling surplus materials, unfinished blades parts pieces etc. That might be of interest. I’d think finding what you ask for would require a friend, a partner, someone you trust. Hard to find.
I do not want to be in a position where I am working for you (you tell me what you want done, I do it, and your name goes on the final product and the final product is totally under your control). I think most knife makers have their own ideas about how to do it, when to do it, what it should sell for, how it should look when it is done etc. Getting two knife makers to work together is not common.
So why not outright sell what you have no time for to someone in the business of ‘wheeling and dealing’ It’s what I like to do, get stuff not being used into the hands of those who have a need for that item. It doesn’t have to be the best, somewhere someone is looking for just that exact thing and I like to try to find that connection.
If you in turn need other materials, different blades (like trade my heat treated (or some I acquired) for your untreated or your unstable raw material for some stable material or ‘whatever’ I’m up to trading. But no, not business partners – no I do not want to help you finish your projects. No one else can be you. If I finish a project it is my project I finished.
What I offer (and others as well might offer the same)-- It might help you focus on a few things and not be overwhelmed and offer you the chance to make some money for the partial work already done. If you simply sold off a lot of what you have. Whether to me or someone else. It might give you some working capital.
Anyhow, a thought. If interested let me know. You can look at my web site and see what I am about. Anyhow… good luck whatever you decide. Miles
