Need help for the 18" Ang Khola and the Chiruwa Ang Khola

I could not make a choice, but today I finally decide to take the 16.5" Chiruwa Ang Khola with the wood handle, i think i've made the good choice...but i've take a San Mai III kukri too, so once i will receive it all i'll will post a review here and probably a cut test video, although I think this two Kukri can not be really comparable.

Kuddos on your CAK purchase. Regarding the CS, I guess you had to do what you had to do. It'll make a good machete, I'm sure. Shame you couldn't wait until you got the CAK in hand. I look forward to your comparison and testing. Make sure that you post it in the Cantina if you're going to have the CS included...it will save the moderators having to move it.

Thank you oldschool but i've already paid for the kukri's and now my brother want a 30" sirupati, i'll probably buy it for christmas, HI make really impressive "long kukri", i think i will not be unsatisfied

As there is Non H.I. product being posted here, I have to move this to the Cantina.
I tried to resist, but i must ask all of you to please post only H.I. related material in the main forum, as it is Aunties showroom floor. Anything else being discussed or shown must be posted in the Cantina.

Sorry Karda, I was trying to show what I feel is a better "application" of San Mai than what Cold Steel uses. Bailey has a drop dead gorgeous blade there. I don't have the animosity for Cold Steel/ Lynn Thompson that some people do their stuff just ain't my cup of tea.

Since this is now in the Cantina this excerpt from ColdSteel's site is interesting;
"The Gurkha Kukri’s VG-1 San Mai III® blade will out-chop any factory or handmade knives; including swords twice its size, even expensive, hand forged Japanese Katanas."

I am now going to try real hard not to force another thread move and go out side to have a good laugh so I don't wake my son up.

CS products seems not to have a good reputation on bladeforums.com, they not even appear on the manufacturers list in the forum

bob124, ColdSteel products themselves are good products. Its the company owner Lynn Thompson and his "marketing" that people can do without. That excerpt I posted above is patently wrong on so many levels it defies belief. It gets even better if you read the whole spiel.
I think Karda moved the thread not because of the ColdSteel discussion but because I posted a "sales" thread from the makers forum which was exceedingly poor manners on my part. I corrected the link to a more informative one but the damage has been done.

Nothing wrong with being moved to the Cantina.

Since this is now in the off topic area, I'll mention that Bladeforums will list provide a knife manufacturer with its own forum if it wants one, and is willing to provide a company representative to moderate it. This doesn't necessarily mean it has a bad rep (though I admit I don't think too highly of CS). For example, Kershaw and Benchmade don't have forums, even though they are both considered high quality knife manufacturers.

What manufacturers list?
If you're meaning they are not listed in the manufacturers section here at BFc it is because they choose not to be here. Spark does not charge manufacturers to have a forum, but he does insist that they staff it themselves with their own moderators.

Many people dont care for CS based on LT's History of stretching truths.
Some don't like the hype and pricing.
Some consider the CS product a "KLO", If it ain't got no cho, it's a KLO (Khukuri Like Object)

I moved the thread due to content. Threads in The main forum are for discussion of H.I. products only. I don't mind the mere mention of another manufacturer off and on, but if you're having a discussion about anyone other than H.I. or posting pics of same, the thread belongs in the Cantina.

I finally got my kukris

1) Chiruwa Ang Khola 16.5" from HI > $175
2) San Mai III Gurkha Kukri 17" from CS > $400
3) and 4) i've got them at a flea market, made in india > $10 each :jerkit:

I am now able to compare, I did not really make a lot of test, but honestly, my preference is for the Chiruwa Ang Khola, heavier weigh than the gurkha kukri i feel in confiance when i chop, it's not gonna break ! --> satisfied customer ;)

Here some comparison of the blade -sorry poor quality picture- :
Verdict : Don't waste your money for one $400 skinny blade from CS.. buy two chiruwa ang khola..

Glad to see you've seen the light Bob, thanks for the update. No point lining LT's already fat pockets ($400!:barf:) when you can support the Kamis in Nepal. Just my biased opinion of course.

Edit: I apologise if you took any offense from my statement, none intended whatsoever. I've definitely made stupid purchases in my time...

Leo, be nice bob just learned an expensive lesson no need to rub it in. Some of us are slow learners:p I made a mistake yesterday that if I had not made it I could have sharked today's entire August special:grumpy:
Bob124 if you haven't already check and touch up the edge on that 18" CAK before you start chopping. The edges from the factory HI knives range from razor to butter knife sharp. After seeing some of the blades Yangdu has sent me wrapped in newspaper as they are I think I now under stand why dogs cringe when getting hit with one.:p The CS is probably passable sharp the 2 no-name flea market blades might not even be edge hardened and may never get sharp.

HI ruuls!!
thanks for the little review:) i think alot of people have had the same dilemma as you. this may help them decide:)
