I hope it's OK to post this thread here.... I really don't know what to do.....

I bought 3 shirogorov knives from a Bladeforum dealer last month, they were sent from Russia by EMS, one is blue T pattern 95, the other two are 111 carbon fiber...

I paid $2300 for these three knives... the package has been in JFK airport customs for over two weeks, has anyone bought shirogorov from Russia had a similar situation?

What should I do? Should I ask my local USPS office? Or should I call the JFK airport custom?

Oh dear. I believe you may have a theft on your hands. With knives at that price, it wouldn't surprise me at all. I think you have to make a few phone calls.

Try both.
That does seem to be a bit of an excessive time to be held.
I wouldn't write them off as a loss yet.
The waiting game is always a challenge, I can only imagine ughhhhhhhh.

If your customs is any bit like our customs here in the Netherlands, i would not worry. I've had stuff in customs for over three weeks sometimes. Usually nothing goes wrong, but sometimes it does. Always make sure to pay with paypal or a creditcard and always pay for insured shipment. If you've done that and something does go wrong you can usually get your money back.

Anyway, i would not worry yet. I'd start worrying if it stays in customs for a month.

Oh yeah a tip: what always works for me here, i mail customs and ask where my gd shipment is. Usually gets shipped the same day when i do that. In the end customs is a formality carried out by normal mail boys and girls working for a company like UPS, USPS or DHL. And these companies are worried about keeping a reputation.

Good luck!

I recently bought a Shiro 111 from Russia. It was at Customs for about 10 days. Yours hit Customs over the holidays so I could see it taking longer. I wouldn't really worry until they are there for over three weeks.

This. I've had incoming stuff from Russia and Ukraine take awhile.

I once had a parcel held up in Chicago for 3 weeks. It's frustrating, but it eventually broke free and was delivered. The shortest I've ever seen anything go through Customs in Chicago is a week. You could try phoning to get a status from them.

I think you will be fine. What's important is that it's out of Russia and on American soil so the greatest fear is alleviated.
I purchased some set from Ukraine back in November and it took almost five weeks to clear and land at my door-all intact.

I had two Andre Thorburn's get "lost" by DHL and waited over 2 months before they were found and delivered. Strangest thing was that I received a totally empty package from DHL around the time when the knives were supposed to be delivered, so I really feared the worst. However, I had Andre contact DHL immediately, and I did as well, and eventually the knives were found. Also, and maybe more similarly to your situation, I've had knives get delivered from Canada when USPS still said they were in customs in Canada, so I don't think those "trackers" are the most accurate. Given the holidays, I wouldn't fret too much.

I agree with everyone. Technically with the holidays it has only been 11 business days. I would give them a call anyway to get a status update.
