Hello everyone!

I recently purchased this Benchmade knife from a war veteran. A few of the screws were missing on the side, and now I'm trying to identify the model so I can have Benchmade send me a few replacement screws. I have searched the internet trying to identify it, but have had no luck because there is no model number under the butterfly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

The reason that you had problem with identifying it is that it is a knock-off.

Are you certain of this? It's not possible that this is an early model?

It is a counterfeit. Made in China. Illegal use of the Benchmade name. Sorry, but your buddy got ripped off if he thought it was real when he bought it, and if you paid more than $5 for that, you got ripped off.

"Buyer beware" is an often overlooked jingle, isn't it. I hope you didn't pay too much. Myself cannot distinguish one fashion knife from another and hence have only ever bought SAKs. Those I've used and carried for 50 years and can immediately detect phonies and knock-offs.
The beauty of Google is you can instantly compare things these days which is quite a bit different from how things were 20+ years ago.

Yes, we're certain of this.

But if you don't believe us, it's easy to prove to yourself. Send it in to Benchmade for warranty service to get the screws replaced. They'll eyeball the knife and take appropriate actions. Some of the appropriate actions they may take are listed on their website:

Counterfeit Goods Notice

(a) If a knife returned for warranty work is found to be an actual or suspected counterfeit or replica item, Benchmade shall have the right to impound the knife for further investigation of its authenticity. Benchmade shall not be liable to you, or anyone else, for payment of the price of any suspected counterfeit knife under investigation. If Benchmade, in its sole discretion, determines that the knife you returned for repairs is a counterfeit, Benchmade has the right to permanently impound and/or destroy the knife. Knives determined to be counterfeit will not be returned to you.

You'll know for an absolute certainty in no time at all. You'll be out both postage AND the knife, but at least you won't have to believe us.

If you paid more that $5 or $10.......ask him for your cash back.
100% positively a fake.
Joe

In the future, if you buy a Benchmade second hand with issues........you can send it in to them and they'll repair the knife for free.
