I bought this knife from a pawn shop. It didn’t come with any of the original packaging or note. I was curious if someone could help me Identify the model of the knife and possible value? I put it on layaway for this purpose. The original price the pawn shop had it listed at is $500 but I talked them down to $375. Is that a good deal for this particular make and model without it’s original packaging?

I would not pay that much without box, etc. First goal is to determine if it is genuine. I.E., take a photo of the Idaho Made on the back. Fakes sometimes use the wrong font.

I appreciate your help I will stop by the pawn shop on my way home from work and take some more pics to upload.

A Sebenza insingo, thats actually a pretty interesting find. The insingo blade shape, to my knowledge, was discontinued on Sebenzas. If it was the normal blade shape, no way id pay 375 for it. But with the insingo blade, a chance to buy one might not happen again. Id say go for it if you like the blade shape. If you send it in for a spa treatment you got yourself a nice user for $80 under retail. I wouldnt worry about the box if you plan on carrying it. Id take some more photos and post them to be safe, but id wager its authentic based on how it stood up to the wear of the previous owner.

Ya the blade is what caught my eye and after researching the crap out of it on eBay I could not find another knife that had similar scales. im gonna take some more photos tonight and post them. Im planning on carrying it and also adding it to my knife collection that I can pass down to my kids.

Yah you probably wont find one with scales like that, the scales were most likely anodized blue by the owner or another third party. Make sure to take lots of photos, better to have too many than not enough, different angles, areas etc so we can help authenticate. If it checks out id say go for it, will be difficult to find another with that blade shape for that price.

While I can't say if it's genuine or not I can say that the choil on that blade looks pretty rounded off; nowhere near as angular as the one in my pocket. As Sharpoholic Sharpoholic said, it's a Sebenza 21 with the Insingo blade. Looks like the scales were anodized in some fashion which may mean Chris Reeve won't service/warranty the knife but YMMV. If you love the blade shape as much as I do, I'd say go for it, but if you just want a Chris Reeve I'd look for something in better shape for that price personally.

Ya the reason I want this is the blade shape. Im a huge fan of anything either Wharncliffe or Sheepfoot. Ill have to reach out to Chris Reeve and find out if they warranty something like this. thanks for your help

Too much for a beat on, no warranty user. Hard pass for me at that price. I’d go maybe 150-200 and give it to the kid that cuts my grass.

Uploaded more photos and it looks like it says B18 inside the knife.

Don’t see any obvious counterfeit signs. Before you buy, send CRK an email asking if they still spa service anodized knives. Last I heard, about a year ago, they did. After the spa service it will literally look brand new. I sent one in a while back that looked far worse and came back like the first day I bought it. That knife is far from a “beat on user” it’s just been carried and used daily for a few years. Which Is what a knife is supposed to be for, I suppose some people tend to forget that these days. You can also probably talk the pawn shop guy down a bit more too if you wanted

Nope I know exactly what a knife is for and carry and use one every single day. I stand by beater.

Not going to argue. Regardless of your opinion, if CRK still does spa service on ano‘d knives, it will come back brand new. This is a excellent service many can attest to. Insingos sell fairly fast for dealers as well as on the secondary, with sebenza insingos being pretty rare nowadays. So realistically the only way to get an insingo blade is through a inkosi direct order, with the current wait time being 2 years.

Or the OP could buy either of the ones I just PM’d him that are a much better value then the over priced no box beater at the pawn shop.
