Need help identifying some wood.

I make and sell all types of knife scales. I usually can identify most wood. This one has me stumped.
I found this wood in the scrap pile at the port of Houston Texas. It could have come from anywhere in the world.It is super hard. I have cut ironwood with my industrial saw and it cuts much easier than this wood. any help on identifying it would be appreciated. I am making a knife with a set of these scales, i will post pics when done..

Looks like quartersawn Brazilian cherry. It's a very dense, hard wood
 
A shot of the end grain might help with identification. I've never seen wood with little bright red flecks like that
 
Those flecks are because it's quartersawn or cut at a 90 degree at the growth rings. More expensive process becuse you don't get as much yield when boarding out a log but much more prize by woodworkers because of it. Every species can have those flecks if cut correctly. Some species are so small that you can hardly see them but others, like the blank in the picture, have huge flecks that are awesome and add so much more figure to the wood.
