Does anyone have any idea where I can get some aluminum in a roll preferably about .010 or 008 thickness? Or basically something around that thickness I can use to wrap around a knifeblade? Also, I want it to have some sort of paper protected backing that can be either left on or peeled off. No idea what it's called, but I'd like to find some! Perhaps someone on here has an idea because of work or a different field of work they're in? Almost like Aluminum flashing, but would prefer it bend easier and stay in the shape bended and not have it fighting back with a paper/cardboardish backing that is perhaps used to protect the shiny side of the aluminum. Thanks in advance!

we used an aluminum tape that had a paper backing on it. used to seal air ducts.

I need something many times thicker than aluminum foil but thinner than sheet metal. in guages .008 to maybe .010.

Doesn't the allfoils company and other companies sell that stuff by the hundred to thousands of pounds?

Leu,
I don't have any links.....but I have seen what you describe. It was called engraving stock about 1/16" thick with a sticky backing. Try a engraving stock search on e-bay, that's where I saw it. Good luck.

1/16" thick? Good lord, that equates to 0.0625 which is like ummmm more than 0.0625/0.008 = 7.81 times thicker aluminum than I am looking for! I want it so you can actually bend it rather easily by hand. Basically i'm looking for aluminum shim stock in wider widths than 6 inches with some sort of paper peel off able backing. Thanks for your response though! Keep em coming!
