hi, i dont really post to much because i dont have much info to offer
ive been searching, looking and reading for quite a while for a perfect fixed blade.

i currently have a custom 4" knife with micarta handle along with a fiskars hatchet but i want to try a big knife, or have it just to have.

im looking for a blade that is ~6 cutting edge little more is better been looking at the esee 6 because i love kydex/plastic sheaths and i really like the micarta handle, but want something that i can chop, baton and such.

is there something like the esee 6 but slightly bigger? with kydex+micarta
have considered
esee 6
fallkiven a1
cold steel recon scout

seriously looking at a junglas or buck hoodlum now...

please help!! thank you very much for reading

Just to add my 2 cents....I have a RC-6 and love it, does about everything ya could ask for with that killer warranty. Hard to beat bro....

Other options, I can think of would be..
Bark River Bravo 2, STS-8
Ontario RD6, RD7 You'll have to get some kydex.
BK7, if you get the micarta and the kydex.
ESEE 6, flagship knife of course!
To me, the Junglas is a big knife, but not as big as you might think. It has a great fitting handle, and the sheath is top notch. 10" edge allows for all the tasks you mentioned.
Chestnut Ridge knife shop sometimes offers some custom Beckers. Micarta scales and thier custom kydex sheaths, check em out, some are polished.

Get a BK-7 and see how you like it.Won't cost you much and you cannot beat it for the price. If you like it then add micarta handles and a custom sheath.

the ESEE 6 will chop and baton.
the recon scout has a 7.5" blade and does pretty well, too - but I sold mine to get an RC/ESEE6 for the full tang and better sheath system.
you might also look at a Condor Hudson Bay or the Becker BK7/BK9
Junglas is a blast to use, from what I hear the Buck Hoodlum is a great knife, but a little light for Chopping -- but does great at slashing branches/vines & such.
Occasionally you can find a scrapyard SOD (son of dogfather) under $200 - which would probably work well for you, too.

the bk7 with kydex and micarta sounds interesting but then the extras would cost more then the knife itself wouldnt it?

Wait, doesn't Busse have some blades in the 6" range? If you're looking for the best, I have to ask why you didn't look at ones used to beat on a cinder block without evident damage.

i have briefly looked them over, but they are a bit over budget right now im trying to stay under 200, 150 if possible

Hmm, maybe you could find an old swamp rat, though I'm not sure how many knives with more than 6" cutting length they have.

wil getting a esee 6 be much of an improvement since i already have a 4 inch blade that 3/16 thick?

How about the KaBar Adventure Potbelly ?
It's going to be my next purchase. TK says it's good and it's from a reputable company
Sheath is not what you are wanting though.

yes.
totally different blade.
another thought - in the makers forums Mark Wohlwend has an early, rough test piece with 9" blade made of 5160 for under $100 IIRC. Thread is called "Yard Sale"

Another vote for the BK7. It's a bit larger than you're looking for, but it's a great value and I know you won't be disappointed with it.

i was just looking at the bk7, ive never really gave it much attention, but i like what i see considering that kydex sheath and micarta handles are easy to come by at added cost if i choose to get them. seem to be fantastic value to

Doug Ritter RSK MK2 is also worth a look, and Rat Man Deux LE. But the RMD doesn't come with sheath.
