Need Help on a Sebenza

I've asked about the 3.25" CRK blade in the past and everyone poo pooed me. Lol. They said no way, no how that's what the Ti Lock is for.

I ended up getting the large. It's like a sausage you can't believe how much blade is stuffed into the handle! I really love the size, the large doesn't EDC at all like a huge knife you barely notice it in your pocket. I only wish that in the NY/NJ area I would feel comfortable carrying such a big knife which I don't!

The small is a perfect general EDC that you can carry anywhere. Great size. But if you don't have to be subtle the large is fantastic. It locks into your hand nicely. Not as nice as say a Spyderco, but really well. It's one of those knives that you just gotta try. Once it's deployed and opened in your hand it feels just right.

I agree with the double studs!

As far a size, the small is easier to carry and the large can handle heavier duty tasks better. If you work on a ranch and go camping on the weekends, you might want the large. If you work in an office and drink beer on your deck on the weekends, the small might be better.

Another way to look at it is that when I wear jeans, I carry the large; when I wear shorts, I carry the small.

Excellent post here.

IMO, the closest thing to a medium (other than the Ti-Lock) would be a small Insingo. To me, it just feels like there is more edge than a small clip point.

Small handle is 4".
I recommend the small.
It's a perfect EDC. Double studs is a nice feature.
Micarta inlays is fine, as it makes it more grippy and is immune to most any substances.
You might consider wooden inlays as it add's class to your knife.
all the best

Thanks for the measurement. Now I just need the small handle length.

It would be great if someone could take a picture of a Small 21 next to a ruler, then you could measure your hand and see if it would fit into the grip area of the knife.

Another question. When you send a knife in for either the spa treatment, or say to have the double studs put on, do you have to wait 6+ months to send it in? I'm guessing it would be faster for me to buy a micarta from a dealer, then send it in to have the double studs put on or would it be about the same time frame as just ordering straight from CRK with double studs?

Buy one from a dealer, then send it in to CRK, turnaround for double lugs from CRK is about 2-4 weeks.
Best way would still be to find a double lug from a dealer, saves you the shipping $ back in forth from CRK.
Good luck! I own both small and large and like to carry both. Just awesome blades to carry.

Yeah, I've looked. I think I'm leaning towards the small, and I haven't found any doubles at dealers in the small. I have found a large double, but think that may be a tad too big for my EDC.

I carry my small the most. When I'm heading outdoors for a hike or for a camping trip, I carry the large. My hands are not small, but I have no trouble gripping the small. I tend to put my index finger on top of the blade for most slicing tasks. I think you will be happy with either size though, and many of us tend to have both sizes when funds are available for a second knife.

I just got one back from CRK, less than 2 weeks after I dropped it off at the post office. I was told that it goes faster if you only have the double lugs installed, and don't have them bead blast or anything like that.

I was sure I wanted a large until I got one in hand. I wear an extra large glove, but the large handle was not comfortable to me. However, the small fit my hand was perfectly.

I was sure I wanted a plain one until I saw how ugly they were, particularly after being used and the handle is scuffed up. I then found the graphic ones with the designs, polished scale and polished blade. I bought a small decorated and have never regretted it.

To me the large sebenza is a more intimidating knife than the small, particularly with the military grey and dull blade finish. A decorated small is very friendly due to the artistic design and shiny blade.

Both sides of the fence represented here, but I'll add my two cents worth. I have the large, small, and mnandi. I prefer the large, which is also true of a couple of other brands I have. I would love to love the small because that is the only thing I could find the mammoth bark damascus in and I would love to love the mnandi as I have a burl elder with damascus. I carry both, but really like the large, especially insingo. My favorite though is the umnumzaan (old pivot and no lbs.) That knife I love to carry. I carry my knives in my right back pocket and they don't bother me at all, except for checking that their still there about every mile when I ride the motorcycle. :D

Or, you can go to CRK's home page, look for the list of dealers(there's a bunch), and find the knife you're looking for. I'm a fan of the double lugs and most of my CRK's have double lugs.
Evilbay does have authorized CRK dealers. I've gotten several double lug sebenza's from there.
