Hey I am having a problem with a current trade...The other person posted a Delica 4 in the trades section about 2 weeks ago..I responded to him that I would trade him a knife for the Delica and he agreed..He had no feedback and agreed to ship first..We exchanged addresses and I never heard back from him and assumed he forgot about the deal... After about a week I received a email stating the below text:

"the delica is sent by now. sory i didnt have a chance to do it last week because my mom didnt have time to ship it and i was in school so.. but i got my grandmom to ship it yesterday. i do not know when you should recieve it. have you shipped yet?"

I responded by saying:

"There are rules on the forum about trying to trade or sell if you are underage...You have to be 18 to deal or receive any types of knives...I assumed you had read these rules when you joined and I was unaware of your age..Im not going to be able to ship you anything..It is illegal for me to do so..Im not really sure what to do in this case..I will need to figure out a way to handle this"

He has given me a number to call his mom and verify but this is really much more hassle then I intended to deal with....But regardless...When I called no one picked up and I the voicemail message sounded to be a young girl...I really dont want to send some kid a knife and especially not a 4" Ti-Lite...I dont even feel comfortable sending his original knife back with my name on the line...I dont know if he is allowed to have it or if this is even safe...Never had an issue like this...Wish there was a way to verify age before allowing people on the forum...This sucks...Please help..

Easy, just refuse the package. Mark "refused" on it with big, bold writing, and take it to the post office, or leave in your mail box with the flag up. You don't have to pay return postage on first class or priority USPS mail.

Refusing UPS is easy if the UPS guy rings your door, but they usually leave it like they just dropped off a bag of flaming dog shit these days.

I think that if you are unwilling to go through with the trade that you are obligated to send his knife back. What else would you do with it? Keep it? That would make you a thief. If he gave you a contact number for an adult use it. Maybe the "trade" can be with them.

Oh sorry, I did not realize the package hadn't arrived. Then what he said. Just refuse to accept it, or put return to sender on it.

The problem is the package arrived the day before that email...I was about to drop his package off later in the day but that morning I received his email..

I obviously dont want to keep his knife...The thief comment was a little ridiculous since I am posting this for all to see...I just dont want to be in the middle of something with a minor...Thats something I would feel is a good reason NOT to ship..But my main question is if the "assumed" adult gives the OK is it alright for me to ship?

Is getting an adult signature required all I need to get myself from liability..

Thanks

Return it to the parent or Grandparent. Leave it up to them to hand the knife over to the minor.

I can understand some of your concern, but if the kid is willing to have the parent/grandparent involved, I would have no problems with completing the trade.

If you talk to an adult, and get an adult's name to put on the shipping label, then I don't see how anyone could say you didn't put a good faith effort into making sure the knife went into the hands of an adult first. It's certainly not illegal for his mom to give him a knife.

Ok thanks guys...As I said I never had a kid be on the receiving end of anything...Guess Im getting used to GBroker where everything is much more serious then just getting a phone ok from an unknown person...I was assuming that an adult sig required would make it all ok but figured I would ask..If this kid does something stupid with it your all my witnesses...LOL

Thanks

Well, I guess I'm not as woundup as tight as some people, but then again, I don't live in New York State where they can sue you for putting too much salt in their food. First of all, it may be perfectly legal for him to own both knives in the state he lives in. But, given that you live in NY, I'd get an email or letter from one of his parents, confirmed by telephone and send the second knife (the one you traded to him), signature required. Both of you will be happy and you won't be out any significant amount of money unnecessarily.

Yeah I think living here makes you a little more concerned than elsewhere....Im also Ret Military and buy and sell regularly on other sites...I dont need the hassle of some crazy kid with a big knife headline..I can see it now...

But I contacted him and he is having his mother call me..Im going to ask for her work address with and ship adult sig so theres no way he can get it without her being involved..Again thanks for the help

I think the 18 age point to buy and trade knives is just flat out wrong. When I was a kid his age we used to walk around campus with Buck 110's. But that was the good old days.

Just send the knife to one of the so called adults.

I just looked over the Exchange Rules and did not see where it stated you needed to be 18. Could you please provide a link to where this is stated, as I may have simply overlooked it.

alphabravo I would like to know where you purchased the barrel shroud on the custom 1377 you sold to venomx4x4 on youtube @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCvZoLC2f6o . I would like one also and I would like to know where you purchased it and maybe even where you got the riser block for the steel breech. Thanks

This needs to be taken to email or other private communication, NOT in the middle of a discussion. Thank You.
