Need help on pulling trigger on ZT 0561

I have an 0561. Mine is #250 and I have had it for a long time, probably one of the earliest on BFC. Its an epic knife and is a real workhorse EDC. ELMAX is ideal if not perfect for this knife. I've cut 4k psi hydraulic line, drywall, shaved schedule 80 PVC, hardwood, the list goes on. It doesn't chip, it rolls and it doesn't ever seem to really need a sharpening. I may touch it up on the 1k Chosera every few months, but it shaves hair with just a strop and that stone. Its so perfect I wouldn't even bother with the S110V version. Mine is SOLID and has had zero play since day one. I can't even force any play and it sits at about 50% these days.

It may never leave my rotation and its THE knife that gave ZT the balls to be world beaters with all their limited/expensive offerings. Of course there are better knives, and there always will be, but the 0561 is in an elite group for production knives.

Its not my most expensive, or rarest, or even best looking, but its a fantastic knife for the money and its 85-90% of a real XM at 1/3 the cost.

I've got a 561 i picked up on the exchange. Serial #15xx (cant remember exactly). When I first got it, there was some pretty serious lock rock. I sent it back to ZT and it came back in two weeks with a new frame that locks up like a vault. Super happy with it, and it's one of my favorite knives to fondle and flip.

Not to hate on the Southard but I still haven't figured out why a titanium framelock flipper from Taiwan costs the same as the larger USA made ZT0560 which has a lot more intricate machining and design detail. I know Sal has said that to build the Southard here would make it cost around $400 but I don't quite know why.

Well, not to veer too far off topic given the thread and the threads location the southard is a knife that needs to be held to be appreciated. I was one of the people who spoke the loudest about the price and now I feel stupid for making the comments. I think in the case of the southard you really have to leave country of origin out of the equation to have the math add up. Because aside from us being told that it is made in taiwan neither the fit and finish nor the materials used in its construction are indicative such. I think its more fair to judge the knife for its quality control, fit and finish and materials rather than which border it was made within. To bring this back around on topic I think the 0560 is just as good of a knife. It is simply different. And I would also like to point out that IMHO the newer ones are even better than the 056X knives when they were first released. The detents have been perfected and a true joy to flip. So if it wasnt the perfect knife for some on its release I would suggest getting one in your hand a second time around just as long as size and weight arent your issue with it as it just might be that perfect knife. I know for me the size is intimidating only because of the laws regarding knives with blades over 3" in my area. But the thing really rides and feels like a smaller knife in the pocket.
