New member, first post. Nice to meet all yinz. I've been carrying a BM Adamas for the last couple years, and recently I've decided that I would like to both lighten up and add some better cutting ability to my EDC. Naturally a little research online lead me to the Millie and subsequently here with my current issue. What freaking model do I want? Cts-204p, s110v, s30v or the TI/s90v/CF? I'm leaning toward an all G-10, but the KW's is looking like a steal at $200 so im wavering a bit. Is the RIL lock that much better? How do the different steels compare to each other? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger this weekend so any input is much appreciated. Thanks.

Buy two and end up with one like I did.

Never carried a Military, but I've heard great things about S30V. On the RIL (framelock) vs liner lock, I think the consensus is the framelock is stronger, but depending on what you're using your knife for it shouldn't make too much of a difference. Personally I would go with the liner lock because I like their aesthetic better.

Based on the choices above, price shouldn't really be a factor. Both the KW exclusives are priced very similar (especially with the sale) to the regular production models.

The locks (liner vs RIL) definitely have a different feel to them, but I wouldn't consider one better than the other. My 204P was my first Military. And although I like them both, ALOT, if I could only keep one, it would be the G10 204P model.

Good luck. Don't think about it too much. Buy the one that appeals to you.

I have both of the KW militaries. It’s about an half ounce weight difference the two. I end up carrying the TI/s90v/CF more often. The texture on the CF in combination with the titanium just makes one classy knife. I don’t hard use my knives often, but both steels are great for my use of mail and occasional cardboard. Hard to go wrong with either one though. Good hunting!

both KW exclusives are great knives in their own right, although the price difference is minimal BUY both and do this blade swap too!

At the current cost with KW sale, I would say hands down the Ti/Cf version, I actually just received my 3rd one in the mail today, that is how much I love this knife. However, if you want all G-10 the Green 204P Millie is awesome as well, but all that said, an S30v millie would suite you just fine for everyday use. So if you can find a regular one at a good price or on the exchange go for it. Look at differences between CQI versions, I don't mind the older models but others vastly prefer the newer CQI models. The Military is the greatest Spyderco in my book.

Ide go with the S90V. You CAN NOT beat the price right now

KW green g10 cts-204p was on sale multiple times ar $170 IIRC, so if you decide to buy it, you should wait if $30 matters to you.

KW ti/cf s90v is on sale at the lowest price at $200, which I cannot imagine why anyone with the slightest interest in the Military would not buy one.

Unless there is a good deal of the regular production s30v millie showing up on the Exchange, I would consider the above two mentioned models first.

The third I would consider is the fluted titanium military, which can be had at $200 new if you search hard. It is a gorgerous knife.

If I had the money I would get the KW 204P version. However, I am very happy with my S30V plain vanilla model and see no reason to upgrade. It is a really good knife.

FWIW, S90V is not really all that great, as far as I am concerned. Its problems outweigh its benefits. Plus, you can get S110V instead. I still prefer S30V, XHP, of 204P to either.

TI/s90v/CF, it is better. such a premium knife. for the sale price grab one while you can. once they sell out it'll be hard to find one again. I hope they do more sprints of it with different steel to collect.

S110V and S30V are standard production, so you can pick those up anytime. Between the two sprints, the S90V is the best bang for the buck. You'll probably be able to pick up 204P or one of it's variants in the Ti CF format sometime in the next five years. It's inevitable.

I wholeheartedly agree with this post, my thoughts exactly. :)

What part of Pittsburgh are you from? (North Hills here)

Since I am out of my Ti RIL phase, carried a ZT0301 for a year and owned a few others, I would go with the KW cts-204p. I now prefer g10 scales for comfort in hand.

The standard S30v is no slouch either. I have had mine for over 3 years and it handled everything I could ask of t. It was always with me , even when carrying another brand of knife.

My wife got me my 204p when they were on sale for $170 around Thanksgiving. It has been in my pocket since Christmas, I like the CQI updates and love the steel. So my 30v has been retired to backup status.
