Need help picking up what the best sharpening system.

What I was trying to say is that if you were to buy a edge pro and get all the extras so you would Be able to achieve at least a 8000 grit finish you would end up spending a good chunk of change. With the aligner you spend less than $100 and will get equal results, you also have a much wider range of options for use than the edge pro.

I'm sure the EP is a good system but you might feel like you got ripped
off if you ever tried a aligner.

That is why I love my GATCO. It does the job for me for a fraction of the cost.

I am not a professional sharpener. Sharpening is not my hobby. Sharpening is a way to maintain my tools so I can do other things like cook, hunt, fillet fish...

If sharpening in and of itself were the goal then I might spend the coin but right now I like having the money in my pocket and the GATCO doing the job.

I agree I might feel like I got ripped, but I thought to myself : ah what they heck, let's spend baby ! At least, it'll be the end of this sharpening brain racking of mine.

Hey Chip,

After you've used it post a review. Since you're fairly new to sharpening I'd like to know how easy it is to use and what kind of results you get.

Thanks

I bought a DMT aligner, then a sharpmaker, then an edge pro. Guess which two are in the drawer.

Bought: 1) Sharpmaker, 2) DMT Aligner, 3) Gatco Diamond Delux Hones, 4) EdgePro.

Sold: DMT Aligner

Use: Sharpmaker and EdgePro

I kept my Edgepro the shortest amount of time compared to the Lansky standard kit and Sharpmaker. I just didn't like using it, but most people love it.
