I joined BF in 2016, was immediately warned when I posted an ad as I had a free membership (didn't know rules). 9 years later, I'm back, bought Gold membership. Can anyone please tell me the basic rules with selling, so I can sell smoothly. As an example, I just found that it said here to "check the tech support forum-under "forums", but when I click the drop down menu under forums, there is no thread titled "tech support". I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to say in this thread what I'm selling. I'm 53 and I have some great knives to sell-Help please! thank you...

Thank you so much..

1. when I go to the rules section link (thank you), it says...#5 Activate/Enable your ability to receive email and private messaging, from members, moderators, and administrators;... But when I go to my preferences, and I have every option checked-it says "Receive email when a new direct message is received", but it doesn't give me an option for " private messaging, from members, moderators, and administrators;", so I don't know how to make sure this is done right.

2. for #10 -"Consolidate your 'like" items into a single thread. If you have multiple knives to sell, post them in a single thread. Or you can do different threads on different days. You are only allowed 1 sales thread, per 24 hours, per forum. If you list an item and it sells, don't start another thread in the same section until the next day." So if I have 2 knives that are same brand and same Japanese origin, and I post them in 1 thread, what are the rules regarding separating the pricing and images on the one thread, like at least one of each pic has to have the hand written paper with my user name/gold member/BladeForums and date, or do all pics need this in background? And how do I list pricing please if there are 2 knives.

3. I can use PayPal, no F&F of course, but if I use Zelle, there is no fee taken out for me. Is Zelle allowed? (I understand if this is how scammers scam just asking in case it's ok)

4. There is a 30 minute time limit on posting a thread? Or it's an hour? Can you please clarify exactly so I know I need to have everything super ready so I don't fall into a problem creating the ad.

Thank you so much for your time with this...

I can't tell you anything about the software other than the options you see on your device. And only the owner can fiddle with software.

As far as DMs, try sending me one and I'll reply.

As far as sales...one thread in any given Exchange category in a 24 hour period. You can post multiple items in that thread. How you choose to receive payment is your business, but all prices must include shipping and any incidentals.

I don't think the 30 minute edit time is working, last I heard, systems issue, so just do as needed. If you have a particular issues, post it back here or use the report button and it will be looked into.

Happy to help.

First thank you for your help. I didn't see your reply until I just refreshed the page 4:31 (thought it would pop up when you send)

Thank you for your replies, I will offer Zelle as well.

I will try DM w you now, I will look on site where to find...

Piggy backing off this to help get clarification on a rule, it that's alright. If incorrect to be doing so here, please let me know.

Anyway, here's the rule:

"You must wait 14 days (2 week rule) to relist an item for the second time. Once you list an item for sale, that item cannot appear for a second time in a sales thread until 2 weeks have passed from the date of the original thread. Any changes made to your existing sales thread (withdrawing, editing price, etc.) must be made to that thread, don't start new threads with the same items. Use a calendar if you need to. You can link your sales threads to your signature space, but don't make it a giant billboard."

So, I'd specifically like clarification on the part in red since I'm not quite sure what the "signature space" is. Does this mean we can link our other sales threads in the main post, at the bottom? But in doing so, we must simply keep it respectful and not a big billboard?

Thanks for the assistance.

Go to your user control page. On the right is a set of links. One of them is "Signature". Click it. That takes you to your signature page. It's a boilerplate which will print out at the end of each and every one of your posts. (As an example everything below the flag in my posts is in my signature.) You are allowed to post links to your sales threads in your signature, but we ask that there not be so many links or the font so huge, that it takes up a monstrous amount of room.

The signature is not static. If you update your signature, it updates on every one of your posts that somebody looks at.

Ok, I've updated my signature with a little quote and a small list of sales items which I think is minimal enough to not be considered billboarding. I'll keep it updated and work to ensure the list is quite short as I repost-combine sales listings). Thanks again
