Hi all,

This is my first post at Busse Combat forum, and shamelessly, I already need some help from you fine gentlemen.

I need a big knife (with blade at least 9") and two brands popped up; Tops and Busse.

I have heard that Busse knives are beyond belief, as tough as a nail. But, how tough are they in real life ?

How have you abused your Busse knives and what are the results ?

I do no want to offend you by asking the afromention question, but I just need some insights.

Thanks

Welcome to the Busse forum beluga!:D

I can't really give any insight on the Tops blades but you can't go wrong with a Battle Mistress. They'll take absolutely anything you can throw at them:cool: (...or throw them at;) )

Beluga,
Welcome to the Busse Forum, glad you stopped by.

I'm looking for a couple of links for you to read, but to summarize they are unbelievably tough. I've hammered on mine, thrown them, chopped with them, pried with them(more than I like to admit ;) )

You can not break them unless you use some external force or a pipe on the handle, they are the toughest knives you'll ever find. And if you ever do damage one, Jerry will take care of you no questions asked. You can't get that from TOPS.

Here's one with a couple of stories http://www.bussecombat.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000386#000003

Here's a better one http://www.bussecombat.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000885#000009

And here is another one (BTW this is a Basic with lesser steel than the regular line ) http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=240904

I hope this helps
:D:D

Who cares about how good the knives are.....I'd call them just to speak to their customer service reps!! LOL!

Oh sorry.....I thought I was still over on the other thread!

Oh by the way.......WELCOME!

Beluga, pay no attention to the blonde haired kid tonight.

The Mistress will, as said, take it all and beg for more.

After reading the stories about usse, I have come to a concluson. I'm gonna get me one of those Battle Mistress. Gotta start saving now.

I will let you know when I got it and what I have done with it :D

Thanks for all your help.

I appreciate it.

Heys guys I was just trying to be friendly. Even though I don't remember posting that!! LOL!

Contender.....I would never try to take your job as moderator. I wouldn't have an excuse to call you if I took your job!!;)

Beluga.....if you have any questions that you can't get answered here you are more than welcome to email us at Bussesales@bright.net

Even though I think the customers know more than I do sometimes!! LOL!

I have a battle mistress it is incredible, before i owned a Busse, i thought they looked like good knives and had designs that made sense, Busse has a lot of devoted customers and i didnt understand what drove them until i owned one myself.

I would also consider the Swamp Rat Battle rat.

I dont own any TOPs knives but they have a good reputation i do feel that most of their knives are more weapons oriented though.

Beluga (and co.)

Having handled numerous knives from both companys, I must find in favor of Busse.

-superior materials
-superior engineering (a MAJOR point for me)

Busses are designed for CUTTING, still perform any other task you set them to, are beyond tuff, and as a side benefit- look cool.

IMHO, Tops doesn't have these things in quite the same order.

Blade Babe,

I do have some additional questions, mail was sent a couple days a go.

Thanks.
