Hello
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can find out if I have to pay an extra fees to buy something from canada. The item I was thinking of is a Cigar Humidor priced under $100. The seller said I am responsible for any fees.
Now that has me worried as I have never bought anything out of the US before.
Any help would be great!
Thanks
Jed

If you are having something shipped from Canada there will be no extra fees. International shipping and insurance may cost you more than if you were having it shipped within the US.

Custom duties = Yes, Broker Fees = Yes, unless the humidor was manufactured in the USA in the first place....Been there done it several times

Shoot :(
ok thats what I was afraid of. I dont think it was made in the US so it looks like it will be taxed.
Thanks for the help

If it was made in Canada there will be no duty. Free Trade took care of that. It will depend on where it was made and what it is as to whther there will be any duty. There will be Customs fees, but that would be the same for anything you import.

Is this being shipped from a dealer or a private individual?

There is a good chance that you will not be hit with any duty. Check with USPS on what they charge for Doing the Customs clearance for you. Canada Post only charge $6.00, but I don't have any idea what USPS charge.
