Need Help Quick - attaching MB from ESEE-3MIL to an RC-4 Kydex Sheath

If you get a 3 or 4 with MOLLE Locks then the screws from the MOLLE locks will attache the MOLLE back. When you purchase a MOLLE back from us separate it does not come with any hardware. We assume you already have MOLLE locks or Boot clip which have the correct screws and posts. Mike

So from the above I assume you shouldn't purchase the micarta handles with blade from TKC with just the sheath and MOLLE back. You should also add in the MOLLE locks or boot clip. I would think Dale should have known that. I talked with him...he was just surprised as me. I guess I'm the first buying the blades and micarta handles without the locks or clip. Seems odd or maybe I'm just the first that got confused by it. I get confused easily though! Lesson learned for both of us. Anyway...love my new desert tan ESEE-4 with the black/brown micarta. Now I gotta get out in the desert. :D

It cooks my noodle as both the kydex and thermoform sheaths share a great versatile design, I'm really curious as to just "what else" those holes where intended for. Flip the screw/chicagos around and it works, but WHAT was SO special about those TWO holes they had to be larger....?

T

Maybe they did it especially for people who needed help to figure out that the screw needed to be flipped. It still didn't help me...I'm a little slow! I should've just waited for you to post. Thanks for the extra explanation.

Gonna go out on a limb and suggest the original design called for grommets at those holes:

Maybe to secure the sheath should all the screws be removed/add reinforcement? Then something changed and the grommets didn't make it to final production but the holes still got drilled for them????? BTW, the grommets in my pic aren't long enough, I just placed the bottom half for the photo - maybe that's what happened?

That makes sense. I used a set of screws that I had from some molle locks that weren't in use. If this was your first ESEE knife purchase you wouldn't have any laying around, though. You bought the sheath from Dale's and it does not come with molle locks? Does it come with the boot clip? I thought that the sheath sets purchased came with boot clip and molle....so i guess they just come with boot clip and the molle is separate.

I got an rc-3mil and an rc-4 first - the 3 came attached to the molle back and the 4 came with a set of molle locks/screws. I haven't bought a 3 that wasn't the MIL version, but would assume it would come with a boot clip and the molle locks/screws.

Take a picture of your knife if you can.....I always thought that particular color combination would look nice!

Now I'm really caught!

I had bought the 3MIL about two weeks before the 4. So I guess I had screws that would work...just wanted to keep my accessories separate. My 4 from TKC didn't come with locks or the clip. In fact, I was steered toward not getting the locks and I knew I didn't want a clip. A clip seems more appropriate for a 3 than a 4...at least for me. So here's my new 3 mil along with my latest ESEE, the 4 desert style.

btw...terror has got to be right about the grommets.

That pic is nice....I haven't been too interested in Dale's scales until I saw this pic. It really shows how the handle has the extra length to push your pinkie against. I think it'll make the handle more like the Becker handles at the end. I like it a lot.

Thx! I'm actually surprised how comfortable the scales are. Honestly I got them more for the look than anything...comfort is a huge plus. But really I need to get out and use it to know for sure. Seems to fit my hand perfectly though.
