Need help selecting a good folding knife to use as a special gift for 3 brothers

A traditional in the 2 blade canoe pattern seems very fitting.
Case.
Queen.
GEC.
Older Camillus.

No matter what modern style knife a person likes, a traditional slips in the pocket and lies happily dormant till it's needed.
Always happy to be used for it's built purpose and doesn't demand attention.

How about a different version of the Spydie Sage for each person? Each person gets a knife that's got its own personality, yet is part of the family.

What about the Chaparral? Seems like a lighter knife than the Sage, which I think might elicit more daily use. I like the wire clip for deep pocket carry on that vs. the Native 5.

The Chaparral is a great knife. Small, light, discrete, great materials, and great F&F. I carry a Chap. 2 as my gentleman's/dress knife. However, if engraving is something you're set on, I would look at the all stainless delica or dragonfly. Much more real estate to engrave and they look pretty classy as well.

Plus, the more you carry a traditional around in your pocket, the better they look. Since this gift is going to be very sentimental, nothing says that like a good ol bone handled traditional folder. They will get carried, admired, and probably passed down to your brothers' kids.
OP, if you just have to go with a modern knife, I'd try to keep it classy. Maybe something with a nice handle material. G10 or zytel don't scream "sentimental gift for my brother" to me.

I have gifted to relatives quite a bit...including grand-kids, kids, siblings, nephews, nieces.
Generally, my favorite would be a Spyderco Caly 3 in ZDP-189. Second choice is a Spyderco Sage 2 in titanium, or Sage 3 in carbon-fiber. The Sage series is all S30V...also a good steel. These are all three-inch blades...and great knives. Nice tradition that you have there.

Where are you going overseas? Maybe a knife that is from that region would be appropriate.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Right now, I've decided to go for 3 Chaparrals and 1 Sage 1. I wanted to include my father in the gifting, as he's the one who always took us, but is unable to go on this trip because of his health. The Sage seemed appropriate as I can play up the "father" knife as it's larger, but still looks like part of the family. The Sage moniker seems appropriate as well. I think I'll give the knives to my brothers on our first night on the river, and leave my dad's with my mom to give to him at a similar time with a nice note.

Really, really nice choices. As you point out, they kind of tell a story too. Whilst I don't have a Chaparral, it has been on my list for a while and at that size it can really comfortably become part of a real EDC i.e. every day.

I personally love to give (and recieve) gifts that will get regularly used and appreciated - it is one reason why along with folders and watches, I often buy people good kitchen knives as it is a place to begin an appreciation for good tools and start on a knife journey (if appropriate) that is frequently used.

Again, really classy choices...
