I second Devin Thomas. Never had a problem with his steel. Great guy if you ever meet him in person.

Devin Thomas is a great guy. He has probably made more damascus than anybody. I highly recomend him.

I used some Odin's Eye ATS-34 damascus and it turned out stunning....got it from Texas Knifemaker's Supply....It was the most beautiful damascus knife I had made up till that point...I just remember that it was somewhat on the expensive side for the blank...heat treated just like ATS-34, of course, and my gosh, what a sharp blade on the finished product.

Look it up in their catalog

Or if you're really lucky, you could see me with him! OK, so maybe not so much lucky....

Larrin,
Nah, I've met you. Devin is alot larger :)

I use alot of Devins stuff and never had a problem with any of it. Even that piece of ss ladder that was .270 x 2" x 13". :D

Guys,
Thanks for the help. I have given Devin Thomas a call and am looking forward to using some of his damascus. :D It looks like he does beautiful work.

As soon as I can get my dad to give me some help. So, I guess the answer would be probably never. I've been working on him. I have a design drawn up, a simple little knife. I'll probably use some scrap steel to practice on and then do a finished blade with the first bar of damascus that I ever forged. If I'm lucky I might get something done by the Vegas Classic show.
