Need help to decide between SOG, CRKT, Eickhorn, Camillus or Spyderco

Hello,
I'm a newbie here, and first of all I want to thank all of you for your valuable forum that helped me to narrow my search for a folder to the manufacturer above.

This folder will be, mainly, kept handy in my car just to have it available in case of being in a hurry to cut seatbelts, not discarding nonetheless other task (and mainly because I need to excuse myself for not buying shears or cutting hook as I really prefer the look of a knife ;) ).
The models I'm thinking about are:

CRK&T M16-12LE http://newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=4081, or perhaps the M21

Camillus Heat Black Blade CE http://newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=4136

Spyderco Endura 4 , BLK, CE http://newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=4888

SOG Trident TF2 http://www.sogknives.com/Folding/SOG-Trident/TF-2.htm

Eickhorn Pocket Rescue Tool X http://www.solingen-eickhorn.de/rt_pocket.htm BTW those folders seems very similar to those made by United Cutlery for Harley Davidson http://www.knivesplus.com/harley-davidson-knife-uc-hd53ffsb.html

I should acknowledge your opinions on these models (or any other one you think I might look at, in the price range of the above models) and any advice you may give me.

Thanking you in advance for your help, :)
Regards
JF Rosello

Sorry for my poor english :o ,but it's difficult to practice in Mallorca (Spain)

Get the spyderco. Fully or partial serrated if you will have it for cutting seat belts.

Thanks for your quick inputs,
Siggyhk: I had in mind to go for an hald serrated model :) .
On these 2 opinion Spyderco rules ( is not strange if I take in account the big amount of positive comments I've read about Spyderco), curiously nobody seems to care too much about assisted opening systems (ROBO or SOG assisted technology) are they just gimmick or is that Spyderco thumbhole overclass them?

Spyderco D'allara rescue (sheepfoot or drop point). Great knife!
Spyderco rescue
The spyderco endura is a great knife, but may be a bit pointy for cutting seatbelts under stress.

cheers,

Welcome to the Forum.
My vote for Endura. I have E3 with combo edge. This is very good knife for money you spend and E4 even better. VG10 makes an exellent blade, which come from factory razor sharp and it is easy to maintain with sharpmaker. You will need it also.

Another vote for the Endura 4 - great knife!

I find that the Spyderholes are about the simplest, fastest and most trouble free way to open a folding knife with one hand. The two assisted openers that I tried both needed to have their safeties engaged to keep them from opening unintentionally and if you have to disengage a safety, they are much slower than a blade hole. The only thing that I have found to be faster than a Spyderhole is a Wave, which opens the blade as it is drawn from a pocket.

Another vote for Spyderco, but i agree with Dwaats. I like the Endura myself, but..
If this is primarily for use as a potential seatbelt cutter, you should probably go with a sheepsfoot (partially serrated?).

If you are not using a knife much, I could see the potential for accidentally stabbing your self if you had a drop point model - especially in the kind of stressful environment in which you would have to cut a seatbelt.

Just my .02.

Be Well,

my 0.002 $CAN:

i have the camillus heat and some spyderco knives, i have been using the heat as part of my rotating EDCs for about a year now, and i like it a lot.

From your description "... in case of being in a hurry to cut seatbelts", the ROBO power assisted is a must, and works very well, i never had any problem with the small spring ... as a pocket EDC i would recommend to keep it in a sheath though, since the knife already opened in my pocket (only once though) and his not-so-smooth contour when closed (mainly due to the "blade extension" used to trigger the knife opening) already ruined one of my pants' pocket,

in terms of cutting power i would go for the spyderco though, for their superior steel and well known cutting power,

Alex

I'd go with Spyderco without hesitation. The Endura 4 makes a great EDC knife, I have on in my pocket as I type.

If you're looking for a rescue knife, one of Spyderco's blunt tipped rescue knives might be a better idea. I'm a SAR volunteer and sometimes lend a hand in the city and train with EMT's and paramedics, many of them don't know much about knives, but amongst those who do the Spyderco Assist is a very well regarded rescue knife with a very useful carbide window breaker and great ergonomics (it doesn't slip when you hit windows, which is great).

Wow, that's a forum that desserve is name  . A big thank to everybody for the help, it appears that Spyderco is a "must have". OK, following your advices I will look again the Spyderco catalog :) (I like the Endura but you're right that the Assist, Rescue, D'Allara or Atlantic Salt may be more suitable for my purposes)
Thanks again

The Endura/Delca 4 are the best folders in that price range IMO. You can't go wrong.

Looks like yet another vote for Spyderco, I have the Endura 4. Sweet knife, a real worker and well worth the $$$

Thanks to all
As I see Spyderco rules :)
Let's go to the catalog (may be a solution is an Endura 4 AND a Rescue, or Salt, o D'Allara :o )
Best regards
