I just purchased a new 2hp Lesson for my KMG but I have no idea about wiring. My last motor I purchased used and it was already wired. I remember seeing a post about wiring but I can not find it. I am just using step pulleys for now, no VS. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.....Jim

Single phase motor I take it? There should be a wiring diagram on it somewhere. Maybe under the cover for the wiring connections. On a 1 phase motor the low voltage diagram would be for 110v and the high for 220v. It shows which wires to connect together. L1 and L2 are the wires from your power cord. To put in a switch take your power cord and connect the black to on leg of the switch and then continue a black from the other leg of the sw to the motor. The white does not need to be connected to the sw. it just goes around it as does the green ground wire. You need to go from the center "round" plug all the way to the motor and connect to a green screw or the chassis of the motor. If you are not sure or confident I suggest a trip with motor and switch and plug.to a electrical shop. Probably a how to diagram on the web or get a electrical book for dummies at the book store. Fires and shocks are not good.

It will be on the name plate. All of the important info about a motor is always on the name plate.

What is the model number of the motor? 110090?

I used (this is single phase 230V) a two pole switch and put each hot leg on a single pole and continued the ground to the switch chassis and then to the motor. Is this right? It doesn't shock the crap out of me and the motor runs.:confused:

Yes thats the way to best way to go with 220v is a 2 pole sw. That way when to powe is of it is completely off. I was mainly speaking 110. My bad.

That's a nice motor Jim!

Here's a schematic from Leeson:

http://www.leeson.com:5000/drawings/frontpage/leeson/00505603.pdf

L1 and L2 is the incoming 220V supply from the switch of your choice.

For CCW: connect L1 to P1, L2 to T4,T5, join T1 and T8.
For CW: connect L1 to P1, L2 to T4, T8, join T1 and T5.

Note that all of the wires in the motor have numbers writen on the insulation. So, you basically connect the numbers together.
