I picked up a nice Spyderco Paramilitary 2 at a gun show. It's been stonewashed and looks like maybe acid etched. I can't match the maker's mark with anything online.
Can anyone help on this?

The Custom's and Handmade sections are definitely NOT for production knives, especially ones that are "pimped". There is a difference between what is considered a custom and "customized". Let's move this to a better area.

BTW, this is not paramilitary

As others have said, that's a Tenacious, not a Paramilitary 2. The marks on the blade are not maker's marks. I'd say even odds between the modder's mark and random damage from the Dremel tool slipping while the scales were being sculpted.

Pardon my ignorance. I'm so glad I fell in with such a polite group of people. I'll withdraw my question and move on. Obviously I don't live and die spyderco...

Admin please delete this thread. I'll cancel my account later or cancel it for me. Big deal, I went by my box that I got with the knife and mis-identified it. Didn't realize forums are full of a bunch of rude and stuck up people.

Relax man, people just trying to give their input and inform you of some misinformation.
Absorb the knowledge and carry on. Still looks like a great knife to me.
I've got a green Tenacious and enjoy using it.

Is the Rune comment serious? Asking because I don't know, but sounds intriguing.

Hiya brother, don't get too hasty and delete anything just yet. :)

First off, welcome! This really is a great oasis of solid community in the dark place called the interwebs. RevDevil was just moving your thread to an appropriate subforum where you'd be more likely to get some input.

It would be a good idea to read up on forum rules, which can help you avoid any future issues. You can find them here.

As for as the rest, they've answered pretty well. I sincerely doubt any offense was intended. Looks like you got a mis-labeled Tenacious that's been modded. The Tenacious is a good knife and will do you well.

I do hope you stick around, read some, post some, and get to know the people who hang out here. The Spyderco subforum is particularly great!

No, we just did not want you to think it was a PM. But, the Tenacious is a great knife in its own right.

I don't see a single rude response here.?? Everyone is trying to help correctly identify the knife. The answers have been honest and correctly informative.

That's what this forum is good for...you can get the correct information from people who know. I would hope you'd be glad to know what you've got.

I also hope you decide to stick around and benefit from this resource.

I'll tell you a little story that might make your Tenacious more interesting to you...if you're still here...
I visited with Sal Glesser (Owner of Spyderco) a couple months ago and he told me about how the Tenacious came to be. Sal and Benchmade founder Les De Asis were friends years ago. Les would stay over at Sal's house when visiting on occasion. Business/competition issues have unfortunately changed their relationship as you might imagine. At one point, Les decided to make a knife that appeared to be specifically intended to cut into Spyderco's place in the knife market and was far outside of the market Benchmade knives reside in. They called it the VEX. It had a Spyder hole in the blade and it was priced lower than any other Benchmade. Sal took that to mean it was intended to VEX Sal and Spyderco. As a direct response Sal and Eric designed the Tenacious (which looks almost identical to the VEX) and made it from nearly the same materials as well. The name was a message back to Les that Sal, Eric and Spyderco were too tenacious to be beaten down any other company. Of course as soon as I got to my hotel I had to look up a VEX and see what he was talking about.

I think it's always more interesting when you know a little back-story on your knife.

Best regards.

well......i just learned something! thanks "TheGearGuy"! Always interesting to know the back story like you said. The blue tenacious was my 1st spydie and I have since gifted it to a friend.

I have to say the thanks belongs to Sal. That guy is freakin' awesome! He spent over an hour with me, answered all of my questions, told me great stories and showed me things "behind the scenes" that I never would have considered asking to see. His generosity was overwhelming. It's also worth knowing that more than anything else I left my time with Sal understanding him as a person who really cares about people. I consider the stories he shared with me to be treasured gifts and I'm happy I can share them with you guys.
