Hey guys! I am not a knife guy at all, but I do know when I have been taken. Recently I purchased an Emerson knife because I heard some good things about them. When I received my knife out of the box it was really dull. I sent it back with much conflict from Emerson himself. He sharpened and sent it back to me and again out of the box it can't even cut a piece of paper.

Send it to me, It's my job to make the people he pisses off feel good.

And you are a very attractive man Dave.

What in the hell are you talking about. I am asking a serious question here. Did you even look at the video??

Is there something wrong with this knife or is it me? For 300 dollars am I asking for too much for it to cut?

Dude, in your video, you're chopping at the paper, not cutting it. Try to slice it and I'm sure it'll work. Hacking at paper with a chisel grind blade is sure to produce non-slicer results.

I did try that. My point with the video is that even with that type of strike the paper should still cut. I have 20 dollar knives that will cut the paper with a cross cut like that. This is the first chisel cut knife I have owned so perhaps my thoughts of a very sharp cutter are mistaken here?

What was with your odd hacking on the bent over paper cutting style? Serious question cause ive never seen anyone try to cut paper like that before.

Another serious question...do you know how to sharpen a knife? Cause you will have to sharpen it yourself sooner or later.

Edit.part....family language forum........you wont last long if you don't back down your curse word use.

I've never seen anyone test sharpness by slashing at a rolled over catalog cover like they're trying to swat a bee away from their hot dog at a picnic. Try taking out one sheet of the catalog and in a controlled manner, slice the paper.

I was trying to test the edge of the blade. Towards the end of the video might have been more of a waste of time / frustration. I do not know how to sharpen a knife professional. I have seem some videos and also researched the Lanski sharpening kit.

original post was edited, and video was removed so now my post and others seem out of place.

Hilarious.

You know how YouTube works, you know the words "cut test". Did you think to enter those words into YouTube to see how a cut test works. Good luck. If serious you will never be satisfied with normal knives. Of course then you'll buy a rockstead and proceed to hack at some pvc.

It's no big deal. You're just not performing a proper paper slice. Watch some apostleP videos, he normally slices paper on his knife reviews.
