Ok I'll look at the salts again.

i have a kabar warthog i got for 35 dollars and have to say it holds up well.my other choice would be a discontinued crkt mirage if you can find one

I'm specifically looking for a nice folder that is expressly not discontinued. Thats pretty much the reason for this exercise, the rest of my blades are discontinued and hard to replace with insurance money.

Anything Benchmade or Spyderco in that price range should be good for you. Get something popular (Like a Salt, Endura, Delica, Griptillian, 710, etc) and you should have no problem finding them for years to come. Personally, I'd go for the BM 705.
