Peter, you might want to go with whatever you used for the guard. If you have a piece of scrap damascus left from the blade that would work well. I also used an old silver coin to finish of a stag handle one time. It turned out nice.
Thanks everyone. I go through this with these spearpoint and antler knives. I always have trouble figuring the rear end. Last time I posted this question I got the same answers. I thought that one was a little plain though. I agree that it needs the damascus cap but I think this time I'll try a rosewood spacer in addition to the german silver spacer. I'm hopeing it will add a little something......Then again...I have no taste.
I'd try a honey colored horn spacer instead of the wood. A few times I've bleached black buffalo horn with hair dressers peroxide and got a nice medium brown color that looks nice with stag.
