Well for about 6 months I have been thinking, reading James Batson's book, and thinking more. I think I'm finally ready to build my press but I need a bit of help.

I'm planning on using a PowerMax 16 horsepower engine, Haldex two stage 16gpm pump, and a 6 inch cylinder. I'm not sure what engine adaptor I would need, the engine bolt pattern is "Universal Bolt Pattern (Flange mount bolt circle diameter: 5in., 6.5in.)". If someone could explain what adaptor I would need I would really appreciate it.
Here are links to the engine and the pump.

I'm sure I will get confused again but I need to get over this obstacle to reach the next one.

Thanks

I believe this is the pump mount you need. It has a 6.5 engine mount and standard hyd pump bc. Then you need to get a spyder coupler or half coupler with the rubber bushing. At least this will give you a start.

I'm currently looking into coupler options, some of the ones I have seen are only rated for 11HP. Did you forget to include a link or do I just need find a 6.5 with standard hydraulic pump bc?
Thanks

I may be wrong, but 16.5 HP is overkill, you could get by with half that much.
I'm using a 5 HP electric motor with a 5" cylinder with no problems.

5 HP electric is equivalent to 9-10 HP gas, as I remember. 16.5HP should be like using a 7-9HP electric. I agree it is a bit overkill, but more power is never as much a problem as too little. I would suspect the motor was off some piece of equipment he doesn't use any more (snowblower, lawn tractor).

My press runs on an 11HP Honda engine.

Thanks for the link Chuck.

Yes 16hp is overkill but in the future if I want a larger and/or faster cylinder I can upgrade to a 22gpm or 28gpm pump without having to buy a new engine. I just like to leave my options open. Thanks for the input guys; I'm always open to suggestions on how I can improve my work or equipment.
