Does anybody know or have a way to find out the size of the stop pin on the Southard? Or know where I can get another? I recently took mine apart to clean it and the stop pin magically disappeared  I contacted Spyderco the other day but they were a bit rude lol. I don't care, I'm sure they're nice guys and gals any other day. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

By the way, this is my first post on the forums so...hello!!

I'd measure the hole it came out of:thumbup: the look at some knife making suppliers, they should have something Similar....

Funny that you say this. As much as I LOVE Spyderco, the few times I've called to ask questions about parts, or to see if they could send some screws I've gotten a less than pleasant response as well. It won't stop me from buying their knives, however, it has stopped me more than once from calling them. I've always felt a "how dare you ask that" sense when calling. I wish they would all be as helpful and nice as Sal is around here.

It looks to me like it doesn't use one. But I'm not taking it apart to see for sure.

Spyderco does not routinely stock parts for knives. If it is current US production, then parts are usually available.

That being said, for simple things like screws, I have gotten replacement screws for Japanese made knives, but they were still in production and were a standard size. The scew fell out on its own, thus it was covered under warranty. I contacted them by e-mail and they sent out the screw within a week. Nobody was rude.

However, if you didn't know, you're not supposed to take Spydercos apart. It voids the warranty...and they don't offer replacement parts for lost ones :)

This. Sorry to say, but the OP's situation is exactly why they void warranties with customer-taken-apart knives.

Send it in and they will probably take care of you, but I'd expect them to charge me if I willingly violated the warranty and lost a part.

I interpret their warranty page differently - the warranty is void if you take it apart AND cause damage. Nowhere does it state that merely taking it apart voids the warranty. ("Spyderco’s warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, misuse, loss, improper handling, alterations, accident, neglect, disassembly, or improper sharpening.")

It does. And you don't have to take it apart, here is an illustration I did a while ago that explains the stop pin

Maybe they had a bad day. I'd write them an email, and request for one. They will respond. Anyways, I think Spyderco should be able to get you the stop pin, since it is still in production - mostly it will be a while, since it is Taiwan manufactured blade. And be ready to pay if required, since I believe "magical disappearances" are not covered. ;-)

Just got screws for my Manix 2 today despite it being my problem and me telling them it was because I took it down so much. They sent them for free. Nice gesture.

They are not colorful in their warranty department but they WILL treat you with respect, and fairness.

If Spyderco doesn't get back to you. Im sure they well. But if some reason they don't/cant supply the Stop pin. Shoot me an email and I'll get ya one. Or make it.

It's things like this that generally push me over the edge when I'm considering purchasing something. Looks like there will be a Southard in my pocket one of these days.

I knew you were amazing when xiuxiu1313 (Aka carter) talked on and on and on about how much he loves your designs and quality, but that is just ten steps above the call of duty. Massive kudos sir, I will be purchasing an AWT as soon as I can afford one :thumbup::thumbup:

Same here. How bad-ass is it that custom knife-makers who have become almost rock-star famous in the knife-world still post on Bladeforums and are concerned with taking care of customers (that's also true of Sal and when Thomas was still over on the KAI forums as well).

This is one of the best message boards I'm on and I'm honestly glad to be a part of it.
