Need hiking boot help...

I don't reckon you'll have much luck there - My dad had his re-soled recently and they had to fit a different, more generic, sole to the boot as the originals weren't available.

Here's his boots - 20 years old and he walks in them every day (pre-resoling)

I guess I will have to break down and get some sort of image hosting account. I am not sure if mine look that bad or not, but the soles are worse, I kept wearing them till I ground into the leather at the toes:eek:

Hopefully you have already found what you need, but if you ever need some really hard core boots that are made to fit your foot, use what a lot of forest fire fighters use:

Can vouch for White's Boots. I got a pair to use for hardcore backcountry hunting/fishing trips. They're called the Smokejumper and are worn by people who make their living in the woods. They are very expensive but will last the rest of your life (can be rebuilt as needed). After years of pain& money from trying other boots I went with these. They have an inner arch support as part of the design. Good luck on your choice - - -

They look pretty sad and need some work. The lava rock out here is hard on boots. They were also died black for a while because of work.

Some whites lace up packers that need to be resoled. I got the used, had them rebuilt once and after about 3 years need new heels. They were also brown but were died black for work, I didn’t re-die them after they rebuilt the whole bottom half of the boot

Whites hunters I wear these 5 or 6 days a week now. They need some TLC right now but when I think of it I don’t ever have time to do it, maybe today

Wow, those are some well-used boots!

I have a pair of White's Packers… great boots, superb fit, but I couldn't imagine hiking in them for any prolonged period of time: they're pretty heavy because of that big ol' heel.

On the plus side, I don't find the arch support uncomfortable at all. They really do fit just right.

Maybe I should try a long walk in them!

I have proably gone more than 12 miles in a stretch with the packers, but I never kept track. It was on the horse, off the horse, look for sign, follow sign on foot, back on the horse.:D

It was never at faced pace either, but I agree they are heavy.
