I'm not a hunter so I would need an advice on a hunting knife , I know there are many o you hunters so bring it on . It doesn't have to be a particular brand and no more than $300 (maybe a lil' bit more )

My recommendation would be a Busse CABS for medium and small game field dressing, skinning and cleaning chores. The blade length and thickness is almost perfect IMO.

Slim profile, less than 1" blade height. Pointy tip. Some belly but not too much. Thin stock, not more than 1/8". 3" to 4" blade. Large, comfortable handle. Something like a leaner-meaner street would be pretty good. I use a caping knife (cub bear) from knives of alaska.

busse scabs or anorexic badger attack

.

for hunting, I agree with the size, weight, and the good "belly" area of the BATAC.

I've used the CABS and Badger Attack, but I prefer the CABS for whitetail. And it's in your price range.

i have occasionally hunted english muffins o_o

The cabs is a very nice all around knife, one that gets no complaints from me other than wishing it was about an inch longer. I am not a hunter so I couldn't give any hands on advice about dressing game, but I can saw that the boss jack is a good do-everything-camp type knife.

Bear with me as I stray from our beloved Busse for just a moment, but, the Buck Kalinga Pro is probably the quintessential hunting knife. The S30V steel, Rosewood handles and brass guard are all housed in a beautiful leather sheath. What makes this piece stand out, even above Busse, is the upswept tip of the blade. No other knife (except for perhaps a Sharpfinger) sweeps up as drastically, which is the hallmark of any good skinner/caper. Check this knife out BEFORE you buy anything.

all you silly Hogs...

I used my SS4 to process a deer this year...phenominal.

EDIT: I also got a chance to use my Wiener Dog and my Mud Puppy, and they both excelled as well. Highly recommend the Mudder Grip Scrapyard knives for hunting purposes.

The SS4 looks to me to be about perfect for a hunting knife in Infi .... another one of the early "greats" which are too hard to find .... IMO doing another run of the ones that are classic's would be very welcome instead of doing something new all the time.

So many good choices and many brands worthy of consideration. Just off the top of my head, a few to look at and readily available would be the Busse CABS, SCABS, BATAC/ SwampRAT HRLM, RMD/ ESEE 3 and 4/ Cold Steel Master Hunter Carbon V just to name a few. I would ask this question on every sub-forum that Blade has in the brands you prefer like Buck, Bark River,ScrapYard, ect. So many good choices and preferences out there. Put in the research time and I am sure you will find the one that appeals to your taste and is within your budget.

I don't have any of the new releases yet, so I can't comment on those. But I can tell you that I have successfully processed my deer with a Game Warden for the past two years and it works fairly well. My only complaints are that the blade is a little thick at times and that the choil gets caught on occasion. Especially when opening the body cavity. I'm happy with the knife though and will continue to use it this way.

2nd that, here. I don't own one, but I've been drooling over it for deer hunting!

If you'll permit me, I really like Bark River knives as well. The drop point hunter is a great knife for small/medium game, and I also have their Mini Northstar which is great for small game. Super sharp and come in a variety of handles.

Cabs is about ideal.

I also have a BAD that would be great.

For a larger, general purpose hunter, a SARsquatch is great. Still thin enough to slice, and better than average chopping for the blade length.

For a hunting rig, I have a perfect light weight set.

my cabs, and Basic11 on a baldric setup. Then I have chopper and slicer in a handy, light package!

in this pic, it still had the pumpkin warden attached, but the cabs has taken that spot with a H sheath set up.
