So the wife of a good friend of mine messaged me asking for a knife with a Minnesota Vikings handle for him as a gift. Now, other than hydro-dipping, anyone have ideas?
She's looking for an actual Viking logo handle, not just the purple/yellow color scheme.

Maybe something like this wood that would capture the colors of the team. Or perhaps find a small team pin and embed it in the scales.

That is actually very cool. It's finding the right set of scales that would be the problem.

You could do something like this. I use a scroll saw and turquoise inlace. The inlace comes in different colors.

You could always try finding a scale maker on Facebook or Instagram. They would be good resources for finding someone who could make you a set to match your needs. I'm always seeing people post stuff like that on those 2 sites. That's where I would start if I needed/wanted something like that.

Make the handle in a light and even toned wood and take it to a trophy shop for laser engraving of the logo. You can use stacked purple/yellow layers at the bolster, butt, and as handle spacers.

One of my future toys will be a 50W or 100W CO2 laser engraver. I can use it to do blade marking, scrimshaw, and custom handle personalizing. A wedding cake knife is a nice sale, but one with the couples names and wedding date and a silhouette of them kissing on the handle would bring a premium price.

May not be appropo, but remember the Viking symbols are patented.
More like trademarked. If you buy something with the logo already on it, the royalty has been paid. If that item is unaltered, like a golf ball marker, why can't you embed that into your handle? Having said that, I'm not a lawyer. In reality, one knife for personal use, not sure anyone has the time.... You might get a cease and desist letter...if they can trace the knife to you. Ramping up to scale is another matter. Check out first Dale doctrine if concerned.
