Need Input - 4, 5, or 6?

The answer to your question is Yes, Yes, and Yes! You need them all.

If only one, I would go with the 6.

Judging off of what you already own, I would get the RC-6. Mine has been great thus far.
I think the RC4 and RC5 are already similar to what you have. So I would start with something different.

I got the Izula, RC-3, RC-4, RC-5, & the Lite Machete. I say get an Izula & either the RC-4 or the Lite Machete. The machete performs many different functions in the woods or just camping.

Well, folks, I'm officially a RAT/ESEE owner. My ESEE-6 just arrived in the mail today, and I love it. I'm looking forward to beating on it when I get a chance in the next few weekends! Thank you for all your input. I found a great price on the 6, such that I couldn't pass on it. The 4 will probably be next. :)

congrats on the 6

just don't forget the Izula, you need one or two of them (and one in pink for your wife, or in desert tan, if she happens to dislike pink)

Great choice on the RC-6. I already had the RC-4 before I got my RC-6 and think the RC-6 handles are worlds better.:)

Is there any way of describing the difference between the RC-4 handle & the RC-6 handle? I have not picked up an RC-6 before.

I have both. I find the 6's handle more contoured, longer, and more hand-filling than the 4's. They are different , but I like both equally. I think each handle is scaled to blade size quite well. For example, the 4's shorter, smaller handle allow it to be more manoueverable , whereas the 6's larger handle more suits the larger blades' duties it is likely to perform. Balance of handle to blade is really good for both knives, IMO. Hope this helps.

I think you've already got the small-medium covered. I would either go for one of their larger 9.5 inch knives or a Husqvarna hatchet which will cut and split much better and is half the price...
Good luck man.
