not sure how much you want to spend

i would look at these five brands: benchmade becasue of the axis lock mchenry, ares, or afck. microtech becasue of the frame lock the mini socom, mini socom elite. kershaw, the boa, avalanche. i do not know alot about emerson but i hear they are very tough and good knives. oh and crkt, they have a lot of knives

i was ahead of myself, this belongs at this part of the thread

Can I get a few opinions on some I am taking a peek at?

Ka-Bar Dozier Folding Hunter Knife 4062
Camillus Heat, Blaze, or Sizzle
Columbia River (CRKT) Lightfoot Model #CRM1-13K
COLD STEEL KNIFE RECON 1 SPEAR POINT COMBO EDGE 27LSH
Buck Alpha Dorado Model #270BK
KS1550ST Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout
CRKT Ryan Model Seven
Kershaw Blur
Cold Steel Voyager
Gerber Gator Folder, Drop Point, 154CM version
Mcusta vg-10 modified tanto Damascus Blade (japanese traditional, not american tanto)

Yeah, I'm a moron who can't make up his mind :P
If there is something similar I am overlooking please let me know so I can ask even more questions that you all have probably answered more times than I am allowed to search in a day :P

i think the benchmade grip is in your price range and it is a real good knife from what i hear, i just got a benchmade and it has quikly become one of my favorite. the axis lock is am outstanding design.

the blackout is also good but i do not like the blade on the plain edge and i dont like par serrated. the assisted opener is fun but not a must have on the knife. and if it breaks you can get it replaced very easily, kershaw has good customer service.

yeah I looked at those, if I do a grip it will be a ritter grip... and I wasn't really looking to take that level of plunge yet as this is only my 2nd knife

but who knows, maybe I will :o
