I need a new knife that i would like to use for skinning anything from deer to rabbits, but it needs to be rigid enough to take a beating. A kydex sheath would be nice as well.

i am looking to stay under $100

thanks

these are all great knife suggestions but i would really appreciate something with a handle, and maybe a little larger, like 8" overall

The Ontario Ranger lineup has just introduced what they are calling a line of hunting knives. The first one is called the Falcon. It has a 3 7/8" blade of 1/4" 5160 carbon steel, and an overall length of 8 1/4". You can pick one up for under $100 and have enough left over to maybe have a kydex sheath made for it. It comes with a nylon/cordura sheath that has a rigid insert and hols the knife really well, but like you, I want a kydex sheath for mine. Shoot me an email if you are at all interested, and I'll give you the name of a great place to order from, and they are a contributor here at BF! The pics are sorta fuzzy, and real small for some reason. The last pic is a stock photo.

Becker BK11, BK14, ESEE Izula - all would be great. Here's my BK11 with a handle - still well under your price limit.

you cna get scales for pretty much any of the neckers.

also look at bark river PSK or a queen cutlery drop point hunter

I'll second the queen suggestion, I have a premium hunter in d2 and it is one of my favorite hunting knives. Hard to beat at twice the money!
