I would like to try one out as well. Just sent a PM to you. Thanks for the opportunity. I have been using all stabilized wood and am always looking for more:)

If you have any thin (3/16") stock leftover, I'd be happy to work with it. Photos of my work are linked in my sig line.

I dont have a ton of experiance but if you are interested I could work with it and give you a newb perspective. Let me know.

Thanks

John

I would love to give it a whirl. I have a blade just waiting for a nice piece of Burl.
I just need an address to send you $5.00

I'm in. I have used nearly every type of stabilization. I would love to give yours a shot

I think I recognize that squirrell in the photo for sharpeknives. Him and his buddies will chew up a pine cone leaving only 3 fins on the top and then throw them at me like lawn darts. It wouldn't be so bad but they laugh when I jump.

Just an add on comment about Burl source :
I have purchased burl slabs from him before, and was quite pleased with the quality and pattern.

Cool Stacy. That's the sense I've had so far too, and am really looking forward to applying this burl.

Mark I took a look at your wood on eBay and am quite impressed with the selection and apparent quality. Good stuff! I think we're getting quite a deal.

If you still have some, I'd like very much to try out your burl. I've been using a lot of walnut burl lately and would like very much to try your source.

Best regards,

Eric

Burl source,
I'm still a rookie maker but do have a few knives under my belt. If you have any spots left I'd love to give your burl a shot and may consider pairing it with my first use of damascus as well. I already have some stabilized zebra wood from anonther source for comparison. I do not have a website yet but you can see pics of my knives by checking out the album on my profile. Thanks alot and no worries if you've already filled the 12 spots or wish to use a more experienced maker :D

Thanks for the consideration -Josh

There have been a few dozen really good makers who have signed up to try out my stabilized burl blocks. I really appreciate your willingness to help with your evaluations and photos of the finished knives. I am anxious to see what you guys come up with. I will be sending blocks of some really nice stuff that you will be proud to use. I think this is going to work out great for both of us.

I was surprised to hear several of you have been buying untreated burl from me already. Thank You. A question I am being asked is if I will be offering stabilizing services. Probably not. I have so much cool burl and figured wood on hand that I will probably never be able to get it all done. But who knows, maybe I will change my mind in the future.

I have several hundred blocks cut to be stabilized so I'm not worried about running out. But, my boss agreed to let me do this for a few dozen pieces and I am already past that. It's his wood, I just do all the work. After talking to him this morning he agreed to let me do this for one more day. I have to end this Monday morning.

If you want to try out a piece send me an email with your mailing address and what style knife you will be making so I can pick out a really good piece for your project. To pay the $5 for US shipping I will send a PayPal money request when the handle wood is ready to send. Probably late next week.

Thanks again to everyone for your willingness to help and all the great advice. You have gotten me hooked on the forum. Now I better get back to work if I am going to get anything done around here.
