I love hard driving music when I'm in the shop. My selection is getting a bit worn. Are there any new artists out there that could rank with the likes of say....

Pantera
Type O Negative
Older Judas Priest - hell bent album
Dio - Holy Diver

The harder the better :D

Mudvayne
Slipknot
Audioslave
Stone Sour
Static-X
Fear Factory
Killswitch Engage
Six Feet Under

Skin Lab
High on Fire
Shadows Fall
Lamb of God
Himsa
American Head Charge
God Forbid
Burnt by the Sun

Try these, they will get your toes tapping. :)

I have an extensive music collection...try something independant lable...not that corporate crap...I just sent a few MP3 disks to Peter Atwood...he is still freaking out...

I would suggest..
the Chrome Cranks
THe Flaming Lips..older stuff like OH my Gawd or transmissions fromt he satellite heart.
Bikini Kill for really angry punk chicks
The Grifters.

these all rock and are good grinding music..

Thanks Fellas,

I'm going to slip outta work at lunch time and pick something new up.

Nothing make me happier than to crank it up till my ears bleed. :)

For sheer bone crushing heavy, but with some killer grooves, you would be hard pressed to beat GODFLESH.

Highly recommended:

Prong - Cleansing

Corrosion of Conformity - Blind

Mastodon - Remission

Sepultura - Chaos AD

Fear Factory - Demanufacture

and the old classic, never to be surpassed: Slayer - Reign in Blood

For relatively newer music:
Machinehead: "Through The Ashes Of Empires"
Mudvayne: "Lost and Found"
Corrosion of Conformity: "In the Arms of God"
Nothingface: "Violence" and "Skeletons"
The Project Hate: "Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate"
Static-X: "Shadowzone" (Static-X also came out with a new album yesterday - "Start a War")
Sevendust: "Animosity" and "Seasons"
Slayer: "God Hates Us All"
Damageplan: "New Found Power"
Superjoint Ritual: "A Lethal Dose of American Hatred"

Entombed is great stuff.
Dead Horse if you can find it.
Pitch Shifter is good, like Ministry meets Godflesh.
Possessed has been reissued, so has Vio-lence and Dark Angel.
Napalm Death has some great stuff, Harmony Corruption is my favorite.
Nocturnus kicked ass.
Morbid Angel, the first two albums.
Early Kreator, Pleasure to Kill rules.
Bolt Thrower is an all time favorite.

Mark,

If you like Pantera, check out some of Anthrax's newer stuff. I love it.

Do you have Rammestein's Du Hast?

How about Monster Magnet's Dopes to Infinity.

Wow ! suprised to see so many metal heads on BF :D
my latest

As I lay dying - shadows are security
Third effort from these Christian metalers , as agressive and melodic as the last cd

Darkest Hour - Undoing ruin
The best offer yet from this young band , very heavy and melodic

Embrace the End - Counting hallways to the left
This band is a collaboration of some other bands from what I have heard , very good stuff but not for everyone , somewhat melodic , fast very intiricate , good death style vox

Unearth - the Oncoming storm/reissue
A reissue of one of my favorite bands Cd's. Two extra songs on one of the best releases last year IMO - fast , melodic , aggressive , pretty at times , other times its kickin your butt.

Scar Symmetry - symmetric in design
I love the Swedish/Finnish metal ! and this band is on that list. "from the crypyt" vocals mixed with a guy who sounds like the singer from Asia mixed with heavy guitars and beautiful organs , this band reminds me of driving to Lake Tahoe in the winter hehe. Very good stuff but some folks might not dig it because at times it is very pretty metal.

I don't know if this fits your criteria Mark, but how bout some 70's/80's punk:

Misfits
Minor Threat
Black Flag
Circle Jerks
Operation Ivy
Vandals
Sex Pistols
Youth Brigade
Chaos AD
Social Distortion
Bad Brains
Sham 69
Stiff Little Fingers

Just got back from perusing the local WHEREHOUSE MUSIC. Where is right.

Found some newer Ministry, Prong, Meshuggah, and Mastadon.

Definately needed the new juice. had my rearview mirror bouncing in the truck. The Fosgate was ROCKIN !!!.

I love Monster Magnet. I'll have to make a trip somewhere else for thatone. Their lyrics are great, sometimes a bit funny even.

I don't particularly like the hardcore stuff, but if you want something hard, try

Cold (all their albums are pretty good)
Staind
Audioslave

Staind has toned down, Audioslave is pretty good but can't match Soundgarden and isn't that hard on some songs, but Cold is one of my favorites. Check out All Music Guide to get some more bands to your liking.

You can search All Music Guide by genres and sub genres too...

DISTURBED!!!

Drowning Pool - especially the first album.

Aside from several of those already mentioned, I like System of a Down & Rage Against the Machine too.

And you can't talk about 70's punk without mentioning about The Ramones. Or Lou Reed, David Bowie & The Velvet Underground for that matter

And 80's punk has to reference The Clash IMO...
