Need new Music suggestions

Cold, is a great band , pretty underrated especially thier first two albums.

I saw Monster Magnet open up for Danzig years ago , Danzig sucked butt , MM was awesome !@@@!

How bout some METALLICA?

First couple albums are nice and thrashy
Kill 'Em All (Seek and Destroy, Metal Militia, Jump in the Fire, Motorbreath, Four Horsemen)
Ride the Lightning (For Whom the Bells Toll, Fade to Black, Creeping Death)
Master of Puppets (Battery, MOP, Damage, INC.)

...And Justice for All is not as thrasy, but heavier. "One" is the hit on there.

The Black Album is great. Enter Sandman, Of Wolf and Man, etc.

Load and Reload are nothing like the early 'Tallica, but I still like them. Aint My Bitch, King Nothing.

St. Anger is cool with me, I still need to buy it though.

Great kickass pumpup music.

Metallica was cool back in the day , now they are a household name and with that any 'rebellion factor' thier music had went out the window IMO :)

I try my best to stray away from mainstream music , there are so many talented bands out now that arent on major lables or arent being played on the radio , to ignore them is a shame , once again IMO.

I don't know if this fits your criteria Mark, but how bout some 70's/80's punk:

Misfits
Minor Threat
Black Flag
Circle Jerks
Operation Ivy
Vandals
Sex Pistols
Youth Brigade
Chaos AD
Social Distortion
Bad Brains
Sham 69
Stiff Little Fingers
I like your style

Dead Boys
Iggy pop
dead kennedys
kafdm

Zoo

Ministry- Land of Rape and Honey, The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste
Pigface- Fook, Notes From Thee Underground
Bad Religion- All Ages, Generator, Against the Grain
Nine Inch Nails- Broken, The Downward Spiral
Silverfish- Organ Fan
Fugazi- 13 Songs

Not really metal, more punk and industrial but still good stuff. None of it new, though.

you young punks and your loud rock-n-roll. ;)

Definitely check out some Sepultura (chaos A.D.) and (Arise). Their "shoot off" band called Soulfly has some pretty good stuff too.

Some music I like to rock out to, but isn't quite as hard is Tool (very climatic albums, will have you in a music trance), Rage Against the Machine, the first one and Evil Empire are both pretty damn peppy albums. The band Clutch is far from hard, but just damn fine music. Their last album, Blast Tyrant, gets much use on the MP3 player while I'm in the shop -- very quick-paced music with good "screams" and off-the-wall lyrics. You also need to check out System of the Down's first album -- a must-have for any shop.

Dimmu Borgir--Norwegian symphonic black metal

Death Cult Armageddon is great, Earlier stuff is good, but not quite as good in my opinion. Puritanical Misanthropic Euphoria and Enthrone Darkness Triumphant are also worth picking up.

I'll also recommend a phenomenal Seattle thrash metal band called Nevermore. Dead Heart in a Dead World is a seminal album-- a must own for metal heads. Enemies of Reality is also pretty decent, but I'd avise waiting for the remixed version coming out this month or next. It supposedly fixes some of the muddiness the plagued the earlier release.

Yeap Nevermore is a good band , more for the classic metal approach , but very good nonetheless.
Dimmu Borgir is good as well , I love the organs but I can do without lyrics that praise a loser :)

I love to listen to Opeth's "damnnation" when I'm working on a knife , or Insomnium , heck any of that nordic metal rocks for work music.

2nd the system of a down, three albums and they are all good and hard
Raging Speedhorn, if ya can find them, british and gnarly
Acid Bath, Southern Fried but heavy as Sh*T
Apes of Wrath, Seattle metal that will make you pee blood

System of a Down. Highly Recommended.

If you like Black Metal sort of stuff, In Flames is good. Doesn't sound as heavy as Pantera but their first few albums are really good.

IMO , In flames last 4 albums are thier best , Clayman standing out near top. Reroute to Remain is also awesome ! aside from the production which blows. :grumpy: Why make such a killer album and have crappy production ?... ah well.
The Swedish metal , much of it is really really good and no offense to anyone but the Black Metal stuff is, well Black Metal , ya get what ya pay for. Most of these bands started out as "black metal" but are now playing vastly different (thank God) music , the purist black metal bands have turned to paganist lyrics , Nordic mythology or even "Folk Metal" which is quite an acquired taste.
Best Swede metal IMO ? (that I have heard that is)
In Flames
Dark Tranquility
Opeth (Damnnation CD is so very good , calming music)
Arch Enemy
Passenger
The Haunted

Anybody hear of Fugazi? Are they still around? A friend gave me a tape of theirs. I lost it.

If they are it might just be local gigs. If you get a chance pick up the CD 13 Songs, you wont be sorry.

If you want some go deaf, slam your head against the wall type of music, check-out the OLD group "MC5"...(Kick Out The Jams...). They were heavy metal when music was still a baby.:D.

Horned Almighty
Cult of Daath
Matricide
Frostkrieg
Pest
Are BLACK Metal, cold.. grim... evil.

Dimmu Borgir were Black Metal, now are a pretty cool band, but not really Black Metal
I have aquired the taste for evil, pagan music... and I LIKE IT!
Cheers,
Rob
