I am considering an LT Wright Genesis but am stuck on whether the flat-grind version versus the scandi-grind version will be best for my purposes.
Either knife is a 1/8" CPM 3V blade and all else is essentially equal.

I want this knife for multi purposes.
1. Everyday utility such as cutting open packages, bags, etc...
2. Occasionally, as a hunting knife for skinning animals or processing meat if called upon to do so.
3.Occasionally for camping use particularly in carving stakes, cutting rope, shavings for fire making, etc...

If you're torn between the two why not compromise and get a saber grind? Keep the strength inherent in a scandi while getting much of the cutting/slicing performance of the flat.

Lots of wood work , I'd go scandi.
General purpose knife , flat grind.

I have owned both. For extended use outdoors, the Scandi was best for me. More general use, take your pick.

Flat grind is my vote. I debated the same question and ended up with a Genesis in a flat grind and couldn't be more happy with it.

Maybe you should consider the convex ABEL Genesis. If you want CPM 3V then for your purposes I would do the flat grind even though I prefer the scandi or saber.
