Just curious, where do y'all get your folder making supplies from? I'm looking for a cheap source of semi decent pivots and bronze phosphor washers. I could also use machine screws and standoffs. Not looking for anything fancy, I'm just trying to build a cheap folder to prove to myself I can, then I'll move onto fancy things.

Spend a little extra and get quality parts or you will drive yourself crazy trying to get a good fit from sloppily made parts. Ask me how I know this ;)
Knife kits has a good selection but after trying about all of them out there Alpha Knife supply has the tightest tolerances. Therefore the easiest to finish

I buy 18-8 (basically 302ss) dowel pins from MSC in 1/8 and 3/16 sizes. They are precision ground and offer a very good fit. I then chuck them into my lathe and drill the 1/8 for a 2-56 screw and the 3/16 for a 4-40 screw. The dowel pins normally come in packs of 100 and are inexpensive. Typically I can make 50 pivots for the cost of buying one from a knife supply outfit.

+1 On Alpha knife supplies pivots!! U.S.A. knife makers supply has great prices on screws and pivots and all folder making parts. I don't think I have found any place cheaper. You probley want to consider a little better reamer from mscdirect.com or somewhere.
